I pulled the motor to rebuild it and now that all the battery cables and grounds are back in place, I get nothing electrical going. Headlights, interior lights, and gauges do nothing. There is power at the alternator and the starter will spin if you jump the battery lead to the keyed starter lead. There is no power at the fuse block or anything else interior. Have not checked the fusable link yet but dunno why that would fry with no battery hooked up while the motor was out. I even replaced the old battery with a new one that tested good. Any ideas?

Not sure if a '68 is like a '70, but check to see if there is a lead from the positive cable to a junction block on the core support, located somewhere behind the battery. There has to be one main lead going to probably the horn relay that feeds the fusebox. Big fat number 10 wire, red in color.

Yeah.....took a slight look at that wire. I hooked a test light from where that wire connects to the horn relay and grounded that to the core support and got nothing. I looked at the fuseable link and that looked ok. But I will look more in depth to that whole harness there.

Honk the horn... It may work. My chevelle has a fuse behind the drivers side headlight and when that blows the only thing that works is the horn.

Heh heh.......I don't have a horn :o . But found the problem.......there was some shoddy wiring that was shorting out and I temporarily fixed it. I'll post a picture and see if yall can figure out a repair for this "bundle" of wires causing the problem.
