Last night was the last night at New England Dragway so we loaded up and hoped for the best.
My car is a street driver that was not purpose built for the drags but I wanted to see if I could slip into the 11's... This was the first time ever on ET STREET slicks so I decided to take it out easy and then row the gears--- I normally run street tires with a 12.75 best with around 113.5 miles an hour. If nothing broke I would increase power at launch with each pass.
Well the first pass was my best all night-- LOL did the burnout, pulled up and launched at 2000. The car hooked, then bogged then went. I knew 2000 would be low with simply side stepping the clutch but I wanted to know if parts were gonna break. I will post this run in increments at the bottom. next pass I launched at 3200 and the car hooked bogged slightly again and then went--- 1st---good,,,, powershift 2nd---good,,,,,,powershift3rd--good,,,damn---wont come out of third gear--lay off and coast. that run:
rt 545
60 1.88
not too bad so i come around again, wait forever---- do the burn out--- stage next to my buddy and hold it at 3950 or so, side step the clutch and killed an axle.. oh well load it up and go home. I think the 11 is possible with some tuning and getting the car to get some wheel spin at take off. there is none at at all right now... all of my stick cars needed like 1 or maybe 1.5 rotations of wheel spin to not bring the motor to its knees in the first 10 feet.
all in all a good night, one broken axle and my buddy finally went 10.9x (cant recall if it was 0 or 7) with his 70.. his name is woody and some of the guys here know him from Nicks down in mass.
here goes:
rt 621
60 1.972
330 5.274
1/8 8.028
mph 89.43
1000 10.401
1/4 12.321
mph 112.69
68 4 speed, 3750lbs, 410, 28x12.5 et street, 454, 10.25 CR, 990 rectangles, cc 294 solid, vic jr, msd, 850 DP holley, 37 total advance(checked when i got home--wish I had set it a lil higher), all shifts at 6400,roller rockers, all I can think of--
laugh with me--not at me
