I got sick of pondering the paint issues and decided that, "Heck, I going for a ride!" This car has seen essentally no street time, so I was wanting to sort out a few things. Suspension is real solid and steering feel is great! (AGR box) I think I have flat spots on the tires because of the unbelievable vibration and I can't see anything else that would cause this. Everything is fresh, but it was put together 2 years ago, and with all the paint problems, I haven't had a chance to run it.

Later, I'll shoot some in-car footage. You'll like that... the throttle response of this thing is unreal. I was only able go around the block and didn't get much past 30-35mph. (With no lights, mirrors or bumpers, I didn't want to risk going much further) At one point I was wanting to load the engine a bit to check the O2 reading and was sitting in the driveway (about one car length long). I stomped on the brake and added some gas. A second later I was spinning the rear tires!
I'm also having to get used to the 2800 rpm stall converter - seems to slip a bit off idle and then, wham - you are MOVING! Upshifts will chirp the tires if at all provoked.
This car is going to be a lot of fun... whenever I get it finished.

Below is a piece of video I shot yesterday testing my new stedi-cam rig.
Also wanted to test uploading of Flash video. You'll need Flash 8 to play it.
Enjoy,
Bill

I'm in the process of sanding it back down to primer and starting over. (This is the two different HOK Kandybasecoat color issue that's been posted before) If you look at the video as it passes from the rear quarter to the door, you'll a see a slight color shift. There is also a crack at the drivers side drip rail area and a small spot of rust just above that on the roof.

^man, Im sorry to hear about that. What a bummer. I can imagine how much money was blown on that paint job. It looked nice, and the color change looked subtle, I thought it was the light's angle. Did you paint it yourself?

No, I didn't paint myself - either time - but I'm going to this time! I had two shops take my money and not deliver even a marginal quality job. In the two years that I've been waiting, I amassed a bit of knowledge that I'd at least like to try and implement. I have retained a well respected painter/consultant that will bail me out if need be once I get into the booth. Once I start the block sanding, he'll stop by the house to check progress and make sure I don't have any "wavy-gravy" as he calls it. I may not end up with the best paint job on the planet, but it will the best that I can do. And that is much more gratifying than finding out that it was NOT someone else's best work.

Yeah, you definetly have a good point there. I was also thinking of doing the same thing.
