Where does the gas tank vent tube on a 67 396 go? It seems to disappear behind a plate under the trunk. Are there two cannisters or one? How does the system work? My tank cap is a non breather.

Does the 67 have cannisters or did they do that in the seventies?

The charcoal cannisters were introduced about 1970 depending on destination state for the vehicle.

It is not uncommon for earlier vehicles to have small tanks/chambers in the vent design. Some designs had multiple vent lines coming out of the fuel tank that were then combined together at a small chamber.

I found that the the vent line comes out of the pass. side top corner goes up through the trunk floor about 10" makes a u turn and goes back down through the trunk floor.
Anyone know whwere it goes after that and terminates?

Doesn't go anywhere. That all there is. Brings the vent 6-8 inches above the tank. The u-turn is just to get the end back out of the vehicle so your trunk doesn't fill with fumes.
