Yep...yet another cam post  I have a basic rebuilt smogger 350 with dished .040 overreplacement pistons, and will be swapping the 882 heads for a set of lightly ported 601 casting 305 heads (54-56cc chambers, 1.84/1.50 valves). This should put me up about 10-1 compression. I know the heads are small, but I already have the parts and this is to be a very low $$$ deal as the engine is going into a car that will be sold. I am looking for basically as much power in the 2500-5000 rpm range as possible, rough idle is ok. The car already has a set of full length 1 5/8" headers and dual 2 1/2" exhaust, 3.73 gears, and a rebuilt th350 tranny. I was looking at these 2 cams, both from Lunati

236/236@.050, .450/.450, 106/102
or
238/238@.050, .475/.475, 106/102

I figure the tight lsa will help the little heads out as much as possible in the midrange. Does this sound OK?

What about this one?

The Lunati ones you mention look a little big to me for the RPM band you spec'd. I think your tight LSA idea is right on the money though. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
