: Dyno numbers etc

It's going to be real interseting to see if the recent dyno numbers reported equate to actual ET/MPH numbers at the drag strip.
Assuming of course that the intended use of the car is for the strip.
On a street car that isn't set-up for low ET's, the numbers just might be useless.

Ron,
I am going to assume you are referring to Bill's numbers?
The numbers in themselves are very believable but the important part is to look at the difference in power on the same dyno under the same conditions with the same cam, intake & carb between the pocket ported 781 heads on a 29cu inch larger engine compared to the Brodix Race Rites.
We are talking almost 50HP on a smaller engine under the same conditions with the same parts.
I think this speaks for itself regardless of actual numbers.
I can tell you I do not have a problem with the numbers as on my dyno with a comparable cam in a 489 with a vic jr, less carb & less compression I made 610lb ft & 670hp with AFR 315's in a very streetable combo.
This is two different dynos across the country from each other & both are considered "conservative" by most "magazine standards" ;)
Now, if you put those same heads on a 500" engine I think they would limit the power being as they are pretty small but they are fully capable of supporting 650+ hp by any standard I know of. graemlins/beers.gif

Mike,
I worded that like crap.
I meant that a car not set up for strip use won't achieve the numbers that the dyno suggests that is should.

And I agree that those little ovals by Brodix work awesome!
I always liked 427, they just like to run.

Much kudos to Robert and KJETT, great numbers and Ken is already seeing the potential of his car at the track.

I'm starting to think my 498 just might hit low 10's after all!
