How wide is a '68 Elcamino differential? I was told it came out of a '68 Elky but don't know for sure?
It measures approx 55" flange to flange, but that's with the tape measure bending around the gear cover.

Measuring straight across from backing plate to backing plate (at the closest point) it is 56"

It's a 12 bolt posi w/3.30 gears and I only paid $100. graemlins/hurray.gif
Although the carrier and gears are in good condition it will need new bearings etc

I think I heard that a 64-67 is 54-1/2" and 68 and later is an inch wider at 55-1/2". Anybody back that up??

you have the right one, mine measures about the same about 55.5 bending over the center hump

yes the 64-67 models are about an inch shorter

Cam - are you still on the road or back in Snohomish?

I'll probably have it narrowed like the one in my '67 (Cardiac) Elcamino. Got so many I have to start naming them.
