I always see hokey looking chevelles on Ebay, this is NICE. Wish It were mine :D
4FTTY4 Jun 15th, 04, 2:43 PM I live in Napa and have seen that car rolling around and it is super clean. It has been up on ebay 3 or 4 times but never met the reserve, I think it is somewhere around 30k.
67chevy2 Jun 15th, 04, 3:03 PM IMHO,it's overdone. With a restoration of that caliber, retaining the original 6 cylinder engine and keeping the car "correct",I would say the car would still go for $18,000+.If he's looking for $30k,I think he's a bit optimistic. If he had feedback,or sold it through a reputable dealer  ,he probably would get $20-$25,000. Steve
Adman Jun 15th, 04, 3:14 PM I would have put more money into the engine and less into the sound system. 350 Vortec is a little boring imo.
Umass Jun 15th, 04, 5:43 PM dont ask about the stance its a secret huh. i bet he flame cut a few coils out of the springs.
texastornado Jun 15th, 04, 6:05 PM "DRIVES LIKE A RESTERSTION CAR SHOULD!!" ????
He's kidding, right? Doesn't eBay offer a spell check function? Good grief, that's all I can say.........
Nickel333 Jun 15th, 04, 7:54 PM Your all jealous, plain and simple. That is about as clean a chevelle as ive ever seen, motor may be boring but its obviously not a quarter mile blaster. And i bet its fun stoplight to stoplight. He probably has way over 30,000 in it. Hell that paint/ body work was probably 1/3 of the cost. I know i couldnt give that kind of money for a car but if it drives as well as it looks than it would be a fair price.
67chevy2 Jun 15th, 04, 10:08 PM Nickel333; No jealousy involved.I would sooner shoot myself than ruin an original "SS" car in that condition.I'm not an anal purist, but somewhat of a purist nonetheless.I could understand a V8 conversion, but the stereo and wheels leave me flat.Put the subs in a Honda,or even an IROC Z,but the 60's and early 70's cars are somewhat rare and sacred to me.Think about it,we'll never see them produced again! At least he didn't install hydraulics! This may be my opinion, but I believe I've got a whole bunch of people to back my opinion. We just refuse to let go of that era,and hope to encourage others to keep it going for many years to come. graemlins/hurray.gif Steve
Nickel333 Jun 15th, 04, 11:45 PM 67, i am a HUGE fan of not screwing up the right car. But he didnt screw much up at all. Really if he wanted, he could pull all of that stuff out, throw some factory steels on it and it would look bone stock with a killer paint job. Now you wont find a 21 year old around much more obsessed with cars than i, ive already got my first legitamate decade under my belt in this hobby {and yes i am pround of that}. I hate seeing rare cars all chopped up. But who in there right mind chopps up an original LS-6, or a Z-16, ZL-1 etc. etc. etc. Thats sickening. People should do hard time for stuff like that, and when they get out, they should have to register with the city, notices would be sent out to all the neighbors and they should not be allowed within 2,000 feet of a car show/cruise. :D
My point is that the car aint chopped up, theres no cage, its not ruined for anyone, it just happens to look bitchin but i agree with the stero, thats not so hot. graemlins/beers.gif
Bomber '67 Jun 16th, 04, 12:11 AM Man, you guys are needlessly tough - to me that is a sharp '65. Wouldn't it be boring if all cars had to be setup a certain way? The whole deal when selling any enthusiast car is that you have to find someone whose dream car is close to what you have created.
Oh yeah, my '65 was a low mileage cherry before it got the chop-chop drag conversion, 10 point rollcage, etc. Of course, a decade or two ago when the dragification was started by previous owners the collector car market mostly shrugged off what was happening to older, but common, enthusiast cars.

sobever066 Jun 16th, 04, 12:26 AM That chevelle is super clean!!! It looks great.
67chevy2 Jun 16th, 04, 1:09 AM Nickel; I hear you brother, and agree he did not destroy the car.But the simple fact is,if restored in it's original 6 cylinder form,it would be worth more, especially to me.I just don't understand these modifications, especially when the car is more appealing to the majority in it's original stock form. How can you argue with that?A few years back there was a tri-5 Chevy in Old Car Trader listed at $37,500.He had $75,000+ into the car.The problem is,he completely chromed the frame and undercarriage of the car,to his liking, but nobody else could appreciate it.The car ran for many months, and he lowered the price accordingly. The point is,he did it his way,and potentially ruined the sale,or the value of the car.I'm simply a realist, and tell it like I see it.I've owned some rare and valuable cars, and have never displayed them in that manner. With the exception of better rubber,or a change to better "period correct" wheels,I feel they should remain in showroom form with the hood closed, and I must say I get a woody from a stock engine, especially numbers matching. graemlins/hurray.gif Steve
feedphillipnow Jun 16th, 04, 4:32 PM Yeah It's hard to turn a dollar sometimes on eBay. Especially when asking like $30k for a car, which he probably wont be getting on here. Maybe a real auction or somethin else. I do eBay all day at work, and I have my own account. I hate it im sick of it :D people shop cheap on eBay, and especially with new performance parts & people buying wholesale these days, it's very competitive. Which is better for the buyer, but not the seller :D I would have done some things differently on this ride, we all would have. Thats what makes our cars, our cars!

feedphillipnow Jun 16th, 04, 4:35 PM BUT, you are right about "my secret dont ask" that sounds like bull. If your asking $30k you better speak up. He probably cut the coils and it took "hours" because he effed up :D It's still a Beaut though :D
ovelle Jun 17th, 04, 3:55 AM must chime in here, the car is set up for a younger adult sure nice paint and all but for any collector to pay big bucks for a car of any caliber it must have original equip..i could put a million into my chevelle but would never come close to reimbursement on my investment cause i built it for me to what i like.a person of elderly nature that bought his 1970 454 ss
and changed the oil every 3000 never painted
and just worn down with age would get more money from a collector than this person would get for his lowered big rim/stereo "ss".
and of course this is just mho.
it is a nice car and would catch a second glance from me
