: Angle plug headers...need help guys!
Chevelle Dude Jun 13th, 07, 6:23 PM Hey all, doing a head swap, and the new heads (WORLD sportsman II's) are angle plugs. Was hoping my current headers (cheap flowtechs) would work, but no joy. Can you guys recomend the best Budget headers to fit angle plug heads? 350sb in a 71 Velle;)
461RAT Jun 13th, 07, 7:51 PM Your current headers will work with those angle plug heads. You need to replace spark plugs with Accel shorty header plugs. They fit perfectly and give you just enough room to clear the primary tubes.Use an open end 5/8ths wrench and torque em in the head, put on the plug wires and have a nice day.
brimac Jun 13th, 07, 8:00 PM Look at Hedman # 68290. Will work with standard length plugs, using a shortened spark plug socket, and wrench. Jegs @ $149
Dave427 Jun 13th, 07, 10:17 PM I have the 68290's on my Chevelle , they fit good, spark plug access fine now, and I had the same deal had flowtechs couldn't get #3 and #4 plug in.

650hellcat Jun 13th, 07, 11:01 PM I agree with 461rat, use the shorty plugs and maybe dimple #1 tube for some insurance. Would try the plugs first though I know they work because thats
what I had to do with my old flowtechs. I believe that the hooker comps and super comps are compatible w/ angle plug heads. Just bought super comps for my 66 and they are top quality!

Chevelle Dude Jun 14th, 07, 1:04 PM OK, Will try em, thanks for the advice guys...glad to hear there's a cheaper way to fix the proiblem ;)
norvalwilhelm Jun 14th, 07, 1:25 PM The accel shorty plugs are only 3/8th of an inch at most shorter then regular plugs. Will that be enough. I had to move some tubes for a guy who had trouble find a set of headers. The S plug by accel was not short enough to clear. When you first start the plug it is too long. Might work if the plug was installed first before the header but no room to start it.
ZZ69chevelle Jun 14th, 07, 1:27 PM Cheap 68290 Hedmans on my 69 with angle plug heads, regular length plugs, no problems.
Chevelle Dude Jun 17th, 07, 3:39 PM alright, the short plugs worked just fine...only cylinders 3&4. Thanks for the help guys!!
