Hi guys,my dad has a 67 chevelle that is an ex bracket car that he drives on the street. It has aftermarket rear suspension stuff including rear air bags. The car really hooks hard and straight but we are unsure what pressure to run in the air bags for street use?any tips?thanks !

I put them in my 67 originally to keep the body off the rear tires, as my body bushings were shot. At that time, I ran 35lbs. in them(the max. pressure recommended). Since, I have put new body bushings in and now I keep 20-25lbs. in the air bags and she still hooks up tight and straight.

I would start somewhere in the middle, and play around seeing what gives you a ride you want, but still works well. I would think just enough air to keep the spring from compressing too much would be about right. You may find left and right won't match from axle twist, and that's OK, probably need more PSI in passenger side.

I only run about 10-13#. Any higher and it lifts the back more than I want.

I'm still fiddling with mine, at about 15PSI it still rides hard on compression over bumps so I am creeping the pressure down slowly to hopefully find that "sweet spot." So far, I'm not all that happy with the ride feel.

I run Airlifts in my 67 wagon. I rigged them to an auto level system from a later model B-body. I have no idea what pressures they use, but it sure is cool to load the thing up and watch it lift back to level all by itself ;-)

Thanks for the responses,i think well try 15 psi and see how that feels.

I find about 12-13lbs feels best in mine. Too much more than that and it ridees like a dumptruck if the back is empty.
When I have hauled heavy loads, I've pumped them up to 20lbs and it rides just as nice, no sagging... Gotta remember to drop them down when you're done though!
