Yep, Frank did real well right up until his trans grenaded right out of the staging beams. Big right foot+ sticky tires+ high RPM launch+ 30 some odd year old muncie=ride on the trailer. I'll help ya push it on:)
66SSFan Jun 12th, 07, 8:32 PM Mark, I dug the wheels out of the black berry bushes today and cleaned them up some. I think if you were to sand blast and paint them flat black they will good on your car with a pair of hoosiers. Hell, the price is even right!

flink69SS Jun 12th, 07, 8:59 PM flink what kind of times are you running?
Brian- Last weekend was the first time I EVER ran at a track. My 1/8 mile times were all over since I had the WOT syndrome and smoked em half track almost every time. I ran between low 8's to a 7.8 letting off at the end because I was going to break out. I will try again this Friday if the weather holds and go a little easier off the line.

MAN!!! I wish i had been a few minutes faster! You scored Mark!
FRYNTYR Jun 12th, 07, 9:12 PM So keep in mind when you put the monroe times in the calculator that the track is a bit short and the times are about 2-3 tenths off, if not a bit more. I only run 6.6 in the first 1/8 at pacific raceway with awesome 1.4 60 ft times. I can only muster 1.6 60 ft times at monroe but still show 6.3-6.4 1/8 mile times. Not to burst any bubbles but if you do use the 1/8-1/4 calculator, add the .3 and you'll be closer to what the 1/4 mile times would be.
kettbo Jun 12th, 07, 9:40 PM FRYNTRANS,
Thanks for confirming my thoughts.
No way with MAJOR traction and carb problems should Ben (who I admire greatly) would get 13.5s....high 13s are even very good with the BERG CONVERSION (.3) added. This is still hauling ash!
Ben,
Supposin' I showed-up with sticky rubber with the 350 Elky. I'm only a 15 sec car (heh heh).....ok, possibly less with traction. Maybe 14.5 tops....

You da man!! Thanks again brother, is your weekend looking free? If so, I'll come and snag them. From the looks of them, I think they'll bolt on as and look just fine!!!
FourEightyNine Jun 12th, 07, 9:43 PM Well Frank it looks like you might have some to race after all. The last time I went out I was running 8.1 1/8th mile times. Although I have made some changes since then so I will update when I find out what I run now...hopefully on Friday if the weather holds.
kettbo Jun 12th, 07, 9:44 PM Mark,
If those TA Radials have any life on them, and they are 235-60s, I need one or both for the Elky

That one left a mark.
FourEightyNine Jun 12th, 07, 10:18 PM Frank were you running slicks when you went out? What were some incrementals on your passes....Trying to figure what im getting myself into:hurray:
66SSFan Jun 12th, 07, 10:25 PM Mark, I finally have a weekend with no plans. I might go watch the guys run at Monroe friday after I do some dyno work on a turbine engine for the hydroplane. Saturday and sunday are both free, I can meet up with you just let me where and when. The tires on the wheels now are flat and in bad shape. I think they are 275/60/15
Dave Jun 12th, 07, 10:27 PM Ya'll just wait till I get out there, I'll line up with every last onna Ya'. I got a well built TH400, infinitly adjustable rear suspension, a set of Drag Radials, and a lotta cube's to back it up. Add in My LIGHTNING reflex's, and PSYCHIC light reading skills, and You're all going down One by One.:waving:
Did I mention, I got the coolest Driveshaft loop known to man.

Brian- I have MT Sportsman S/R's 295/50/15. My 3:31's aren't ideal for the quick race but I'll get the launch down. My RT's were averaging 0.65 with a 60' around 2.20-2.30, spinning tire like a mad man. I am hoping my car will do around 12.50 or a little quicker so I can move on and find a worthy opponent.(that wasn't meant for you Mike....well maybe) ;)

FourEightyNine Jun 12th, 07, 11:31 PM Frank,
with those 1/8th mile times 12.50s are well within reach. I know how you feel about not hooking up at all. The first time I took the chevelle out this year I didnt have slicks yet and just ran street tires....bad idea...
I was spinning past the 1/8th mile not exagurating...and the only way to hookup was to roll of the line and let the trans shift into third then roll into it, and that was still with a little spin. The best pass I had on street tires were....
60ft 2.349
1/8 9.478 @ 80.07
1/4 14.273 @ 103.11
needless to say I wasnt to happy.
The last time I went to the track I ran my slicks and open headers, and netted a best of. I was also dead hooking this pass and had a big bog off the line. Thus the low e.t for the mph.
60ft 2.028
1/8 8.163 @ 88.49
1/4 12.603 @ 110.37
Things have changed a little since then...
Those passes were with a th350 and a stock converter. I have upgraded to a th400 transbrake, and 8" converter, also some 3" exhaust to boot.
FRYNTYR Jun 12th, 07, 11:52 PM With that transbrake and 8" converter, you'll be hunting me down next.

FourEightyNine Jun 13th, 07, 2:11 AM FRYNTYR what kind of times are you running in your chevelle? Do you normally race it?
FRYNTYR Jun 13th, 07, 2:55 AM FRYNTYR what kind of times are you running in your chevelle? Do you normally race it?
Haven't ran it with the present set-up and likely wouldn't because I will not go to the track with it without traction enhacing tires (slicks) which would likely scatter my trans. So the chevelle has seen hard times and is in retirement from the strip for now. That's why I have the welfare Nova now.
Quickest time was a 10.62 @ 127 at pacific raceway. Different engine and trans now but the engine rests only 6 feet from the front of her to keep her warm. I installed an automatic when I was racing it with a BB. Before the the BB I Ran a 4-speed in it with a 327 in it in the 80's. Best time with it was a 12.40 with the SB. Still have the short block. God I'm a packrat!
So with my educated guestimate feel, I have no doubt my chevelle would run into the 11's. I've played with friends that run deep into the 11's and have been bumper to bumper, runn'n hard. The motor in my chevelle runs harder than my first ever solid lifter bb motor that ran 10.90's on a 100 shot of juice. My 10.62 pass was my upgraded solid roller motor, with way better heads, on the motor, no squeeze.

Mike, pick an exit on the 5 that's convienent for you and I'll meet you there. If we can, would it be possible to do it on SAT as my inlaws are coming in and we gotta get ready.
Again, I can't thank you enough for the wheels!!
FourEightyNine Jun 13th, 07, 11:16 PM Those are some pretty good times. Have you got your nova fixed up yet?
I am hoping to be able to race on Friday kinda iffy looking now. I tested the transbrake today and everything worked fine:hurray:. Now I wana try it at the track.
flink69SS Jun 14th, 07, 10:49 PM Hey Mike- You should push yourself away from your computer and go in the garage and look for some more horse power...:pout::pout:..Now that's funny.
Brettd85 Jun 14th, 07, 10:55 PM Frank!, I want my mug back!
Preferably filled with beer... :beers:
