My brother wants to run one on his 489 BBC with 781 heads, 3.73 rear, M-22, Comp Cams 306s solid flat tappet, 11.75 compression, currently he runs a old Offenhauser intake he bought at a swap meet years ago. I run the Rect. version of this on my 496 with Canfield heads, it works nice. Does anyone have expierence with this intake? Thanks.

I ran a Team G Oval on my 396, 781 Heads with big valves, Isky 244 duration solid cam, 10:1 compression with 4.10 gear. I thought it ran OK until I swapped to the Performer RPM and it is now much improved throughout the entire RPM range. My Cam stops pulling by about 5,800 to 6,000 rpm.

My Cam stops pulling by about 5,800 to 6,000 rpm. stops pulling before 6000 rpms?.......not to be an azz or nothing but are you sure something isnt wrong with it.......13 years of drag racing the 396 in many combos i'm surprised to hear that....even the smallest of cams say the 272(216 @ .050) crane cam gives up at dead 5500 rpms....284 (something like 228 @ .050) crane series cam keeps pulling well past 6000 making it about 6300 rpm shift point....
that 244 solid should pull hard to about 6500 rpms easy........
one of the cams im running now is a 233/239 @ .050 and that sucker loves 6400 shift points and this provides the best e.t.s and mph
i ran a solid 261/273 @ .050 and its best power was right at 7500 rpms even tho its bigger then what you are running.....
i even ran a 214/224 cam and it was a zinger to 5200 rpms......
all im doing i guess is saying you might have something going on in the valve train with the springs or a carb problem......that 244 cam should set you back into your set well up to 6500 rpms........even if the heads are stock...im not tying to bust your combo....maybe you might be leaving some ponies on the table somewhere...........
one thing i have noticed thru out the years on the 396 no matter what combo it was.....if the rpm came up and all of a sudden would not rpm any more or really feel like it falls on its face there is a problem........the 396 should keep on going thru the rpms even if it doesnt make any more hp ......they just zing up even if your power band is over........just to give you an idea even the 272 cam would zing to 6500 rpms but it didnt feel like it hit a wall or nothing the pulling is just leveled off at 5500 rpms.
as far as the team g intake the victor jr on my 396 did better.......i borrowed a team g ran a few passes then i ended up buying a victor jr (friend talked me into it)sure glade i did the car was quicker and mph was higher......
