one of the bolts that holds the upper control arm to the frame broke. I need to replace the bolt. Is this a special bolt, or will a grade 8 be ok?

A grade 8 will work, but it will not have a knurl that will "lock" into the mount, so you will need a wrench on both sides. I would just get a new one. I am pretty sure that any GM car from that timeframe and full size will have the bolt you need. Also check the parts store, they should carry them.

Any idea what the name of this bolt is? It might be easier when calling the parts store to let them know what I am looking for...

I've been begging ARP to make replacement control arm cross-shaft bolts; preferably longer so they will work with a tall-spindle disc brake conversion.

I can't even get a response from ARP.

I ended up getting some used ones at the junkyard. I called Autozone, Kragen, Napa, Winchester Auto, non had them. I called my local Chevy dealer, he said there was no longer a listing, and recommeded trying a frame shop. I called a few alignment shops, they ordered through Winchester, and they were unavailable. I needed them sooner than the Ebay deal with shipping, so the junkyard was the way for me. It sure would be nice to find a place that carried them, they really arent that special besides the knurling near the head.
