: So TYRFRYER, what do You think?
Dave Jun 11th, 07, 2:16 AM Do You think a 770 Street Avenger, can fuel My 468/Crane 286 cammed motor up to the 6000 RPM range? I've already had to jet the poop out of it, and still am not sure if it's enough. It does run good, but does'nt seem to have it up top. It doesn't lay over, but I guess I'd need to compare it to something else. I'm guessing maybe I need to get a street carb, and a strip carb.
This is a question I've been trying to get answered for awhile. Reading Your comment's seem to confirm My suspicion's.

I'm not a big fan of S.A carbs for mega-power.
Need to drop by and bolt the carb off my chevelle on that baby and see what you think. Or I bring it with me to a test-N-tune for guys to try for comparison.
Dave Jun 11th, 07, 2:29 AM That's kinda what I'm finding out. Thinking I'm gonna have to go the alternate route.
gotago Jun 11th, 07, 2:37 AM Does no one run Q jets except me? I'm gonna have to send mine away for some "special sauce" just to keep up!
Dave Jun 11th, 07, 2:41 AM Even the General used a Holley, when it really mattered.
kettbo Jun 11th, 07, 2:43 AM So TRANSFRYER,
1. Wouldn't a 3310 be set from the factory a bit more aggressively than a 770 SA? I'm talking primary circuit....know the stock secondary blows. Next
2. I've read a bazillion post here that the boys put the secondary metering block in, block the secondary PV, run the jetting 74/84 and really whip some ass, mid 12s.
2A. Might just be a reason other than jetting the secondary on the 3310 that the Eddy 800 I have seems to just get NASTY when the Holley is getting tired...the extra 50 cfm covering the extra RRRRssss
3. Or are we gonna have to dig out the 850 DPs we've kept in our closets or left in the corner of our friend's garages?
BTW, did you check out that for sale item in Machias?

Send you a e-mail on the sale in Machias,,,,didn't get to play today, had to keep the wife from exploding on me and do some tasks to prepare for trip. Sent a note 15 minutes ago to Machias owner though about reschedule.
:metering block in a 3310, ya, it helps but it's still a vacuum secondary crab. For a cruiser and SOME get up and go a 3310 is fine but I'm a die hard DP'r man and I cannot speak well about 3310's because any of my toys hear me they'll break down on me for being a traitor.
kettbo Jun 11th, 07, 3:02 AM Ok, just saw the note about the Machias sale. I never heard back.
I see you made contact. I know you have vacation so I appreciate any attn you can direct that way.
I think any other COA would be a step in the wrong direction long term. Short term I can still progress.
I see a 3310 as a good every day carb where your are driving and you need perf 5% of the time...mostly a fuel management system and a 95% solution power wise. The 850 is more of a fuel dumping system where ya don't give a crap if the fuel guage moves 1/4 tank per 15 min.
I think my 850 DP is in the Bowels of Tricky Tommy Dufur's garage in SoCal.
