Does anyone run a 496 with a solid flat tappet cam and if you do what does your car run and what are the specs. My buddy needs a cam and was wondering what the best cam would be.the car is 3300 pounds and the engine is 10 to 1 with edelbrock rectoval fully ported heads with 2.3 intakes. The car has a tremec 5 speed.

I hear the Lunati solid cams are pretty healthy. A few people on the boards talk highly of the 402A7LUN http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=LUN%2D402A7LUN&autoview=sku

Check it out!!

I think that UDHarold makes the best solid FT cam you can buy:D

He's good at picking the right one, too.

We make 2 that would be of interest:

284/292----255/263---167/175---.626"/.626" .018"/.018" lash
288/296----259/267---171/179---.626"/.626" .018"/.018" lash

LSA would be either 110 or 112, the 112 would be easier to drive in traffic and hook-up, the 110 should be quicker at the strip.
A 496 with 10:1 can take either cam.
The fuel system had better be good.
Either 2" or 2 1/8" headers.

I was going to chime in but my 496 is more a grunt motor so really isn't applicable here for the cams mentioned, imho..

Please carry-on!!
