Well, I think Ive been burned on an ebay head deal. After five months and no heads my 489 project has got to get rolling again.
Ive been doing a lot of research on heads and I think the Brodix race rites or AFR oval (n/a yet)would be best for my intended use.
My machine shop has been waiting patiently for me the past months to get some heads. He already has the block ready but, always prefers to cc the chambers on the heads so he can get the correct piston to zero in on the compression.
I would like to get the short block done soon but, cant afford to purchase a new set of heads as of yet (come on tax check).
My question is are the advertised chamber size on Brodix heads accurate. Anyone ever had the chambers cc'd and found any variance from said chamber size?
Would these heads be "enough" for a mostly street 489 4200+ lbs Chevelle. I want to stay w/ the ovals because I already have the intake and I would prefer the Brodix head for weight savings and the standard exhaust port location, I want no clearance issues.
Any help or comments are appreciated.
Mitch
