1. GET MORE TRACTION. Now I understand why everyone was scrambing for cheap/ Free 15x8 rims over the last few weeks.... I think i'll be pressing all my contacts now to find a cheap set to mount up some drag radials....

2. Putting on an untested carb and giving myself 15 minutes to try and tune it before racing was not real smart.... Must get up to Arlington and have Funk Master Berg help me dial in one of these carbs...

3. I need a fan shroud to keep the rad cooler while sitting running in the staging lanes... I was running about 210 deg by the time i'd get to the starting line. I shut it off and started it up repeatedly the first run- but then the second run, i shut it off and it wouldn;t start... some of my wiring must have overheated.... once I got it started again I didn't want to turn it off!

4. Need to get my 3 point seat belts installed(they aren't doing me any good sitting on my workbench)- and a drive shaft loop from DaveP.... Watching that guy roll his truck and flip 4 times right after we got there at the beginning of the night brought a real quick awareness that the track can be really dangerous (the guy survived, but got a ride in an ambulance... didn't see the truck- but pretty sure it was trashed)

5. GET MORE TRACTION!

:-)

In general i was disapointed because the car was running worse than it had normally with the street avenger on it- and then to top it off with the throttle cable thing that kept me from wot on the runs.... but considering it still ran mid 8's which george converts to a mid 13 sec 1/4... thats not too bad. Actually, kind of scary to think what it will do when it is running right and has the slicks....

Please add 6. GO FASTER!!

I was disappointed in mine too! The great thing about going with people that have experience is the wisdom they can impart to you, often simple changes that make a big difference. I learned a lot just watching and listening to Mike and Darryl talk.

I'm not looking for a pro bracket car, I just want mine to be the best it can with what it has. Oh yeah, it has to go faster!!

My thoughts...

Self Control and Part Throttle do NOT exist in my Chevelle...:D
My tires are just fine...

2500 rpms
let out the clutch quick but smoothly
ROLL into the gas

if it spins, try 2200rpms & so on

If we all do the 14th of July, I'll bring a couple of my carbs that I know work very nice. I have a 750 HP series with annular discharge boosters I can use (was on the wifes 69 camaro but dropped a 650 DP on it for a bit to get the 650 tuned in) and I can bring the fuel throw'n 800 DP, off my chevelle, for a higher comp bb for someone to try.

Ben, will have to have you drop by to play with that camino. I want the DP though. I'll make that Avenger look like a 600 econo carb if we can get it tuned in for your combo.

Will do! Let me know if a day one of the next couple weekends works out, and i'll buzz up there and we'll get er done!
Plus i can finnaly unload this extra hood & hinges!

BTW: the other carb isn't a DP, its still a VS- but has special boosters and a bunch of other stuff done to it that I don't fully understand. :D

When You work on Ben's carb, I might just bomb down there in the S-10, to Hang out/learn a few things. I'd like to talk carb's, as I don't think My Street Avenger is gonna fed me on the strip.
