I love the look of those 65-69 Corvair 2dr hardtops

If I ever build a dedicated track-car (unlikely, but I can dream :D ) that's what I would build if not a Chevelle.

Back in my earlier days, I had a 65 corvair that had no engine, with the thought of converting it to a mid engine v-8. This all looked reasonable except to make this work the whole transaxle would have to be turned around. The little quill shaft that went through the differential into the transmission didn't look like it would take very much torque, it was pretty small in diameter. Then if this was accomplished the tranny and differential had to turn backwards from design and I don't know what the longivity would be doing this in the long term.Don't think a ring and pinion is designed to run backwards continouisly at highway speeds. Any way ended up putting a used corvair eingine back in and sold it to a neighbor for his kids school car.

I have an article on the swap where it states that the Kelamrk kit actually gave you a few extra inches in the drivers compartment over the Crown kit. Still looks like a tight fit to a tall man.
