OK, now we're cooking, Ben's racin' Frank, Brett wants George, Brett wants Ben, Mark wants to go faster, George wants Brett, Transfryer wants a tranny that can handle the power, Dave just wants to do anything associated with driving fast, Byran wins car show trophies and runs low 12s, and Brian just wants to finally meet somebody,.........oh yeah, Brett wants George.

Someone in another thread mentioned TC brackets. While it could be fun, we don't want to kick our own butts:noway: , we want to kick THEIR BUTTS:noway: !

So, did anyone notice that there is a Car Club Challenge event every Saturday at Bremerton? They were announcing that if your club wanted to come out and race in that bracket just bring er on.

The guys up north are practicing at Monroe. Bryan, Brian, Mark, and myself go to Bremerton. Don't think Darryl needs practice. Brett needs to get on the stick. "Jorge" needs to make up his mind, Mike Parker needs to get the 66 out, and we'll all see Dave P when he gets that Pacific thing all ramrodded.

So we all meet at Bremerton on a Saturday later this summer and race as Team Chevelle NW. We'd all be in the same bracket and could help each other between rounds. Transfryer could still run the welfare Nova. (see below)

BTW, did anyone notice the ricer guys with NW Fbody on the rear windows pushing their cars forward in the staging lanes. Now THAT'S playin' the role baby! Maybe I missed something.

Oh yeah,......Brett wants George.

Excellent post! In all that confusion, I didn't see anyone for me though

Sounds like a great plan to get everyone together. My buddy Joel with another welfare nova, George met him at PR, could probably go to as he has one of my 69 chevelle projects, I abandoned (to many toys), for a street car.

LOADER1,

Sounds like a plan! Just will be busy til this ROTC Camp thing ends mid AUG.
Anything before that will be simply spur of the moment "I GOT OUTA JAIL, let's run" kinda thing.

Ya, there are a few friendly grudges....and after all the cut-throat comments, George definately wants some of Brett. I do think that after today that GOTAGO knows who to root for. Note, no slurs are intended here, we are talking cars after all and there is a peace treaty.

Not sure what ya meant by "JORGE needs to make up his mind" unless you are referring to the cam. Most of the other decisions are made....run with what I have. Right now, the Mouse. When I divest my wife of some of MY money, parts to finish the Rat will be purchased. I also have to do some work on the chassis but I also have to get and install the inner fender and check repair the frt suspension...kinda loose for playing at high speeds. A few hundred should take care of all this. Probably one or more frt tiresThen comes the suspension stuff, then build the Rat. The Rat w/o the suspension stuff would simply be the burn-out winner and not a fast car.

Yeah Baby, now we're talkin'. Give me a reason to go and tune the car and practice and go faster! If I can sell my SS rims I may go out and get a new set of drag radials, in which case I'd have to break them in. I still have to perfect the Berg method of burn outs with 2 feet and 3 pedals.

This may be an awesome thing to do, we'll all need some TC swag like hats and tshirts.

I saw the ricers pushin their rides too. I also saw one of them run 11 or 12s:eek: Not gonna get beat by no ricer and have you guys laughin' at me...........

I'd like to see Darryl's 69 run. The Nova was cool and all but the thumpin the Chevelle made at the Smokey Point show was truly something to behold.

Mike, you're a bad influence on us all sir. God bless you for it:thumbsup:

Could you post that pic of RatVette please!

Re 69-70 SS wheels: gotago has 2x they are 14x7, these are off the back of his Chevelle when he got the larger stuff a few weeks back.

A few months back, the dude who had the two 70 SS Chevelles said he had 4x 14x7 SS wheels to sell. He'd moved up to 15x8 Wheel Vintiques look-alikes.

I love that 68. If you had black stripes on her, I'd think you were trying to emulate me! Nearly the color of my MEENO but much straighter!

Too late to get pics of my now fair-looking wheels.....

Anybody have 1 or 2 235-60/15 TA Radials. Previous owner had it out of align so long the outer edge of especially the lt front...looks weak. I've been running more tire pressure....may just have to get the wheels and tires from MATT in OLY when he returns from CALI

I have 2, they came off the back of my car when I put the bigger tires on it. Good BFGs and trim rings but no SS center cap, I used them on my other wheels. I'd be happy to trade for a set of used radial stickys I can mount on some 15x8s.

We heard your 69 when you started it up at the show. It thumped and it thumped good:thumbsup:

Funny you should mention this as I was thinking about where I could hide the button. I thought about just changing knobs at the track with a hidden plug for the switch. Since I've already stuck a non stock appearing fuel pump and braided steel line under the hood, I really don't care if someone sees the solenoid by the brake booster. I had to look twice at yours before I realized what it was. Like everything else in life, as long as its shiny, no one pays much attention.

Frank,

Again, good goin last PM. I'm motivated to go to a larger cam than I really need for the Meeno's Charity Rat! I really would exercise some caution calling LOADER1 out like that!!!!! I'm very suspect of that conversion utility, smokin the tires to the equivalent of 12.something in the qtr mile. I'd believe this if you had traction.....

FRYNTYR what kind times are you running? Im trying to break into the elevens the next time i go out without any major tuning. I think as long as it hooks i will be there.

Also someone had mentioned having some shirts made and it turns out I work at a screenprint shop and I could make some shirts for us. I duno if using the TC logo would be up to par. Maybe our own logo? Throw some ideas at me, and ill see what we can do.

Nova is runn'n 10.50's with some room to go faster. Was looking to yard the wheels at Bremerton better than usual when she broke. Gave it a bit to much on the line.

Wifes 69 Camaro is a low 12 second ride with a SB. It rips pretty good.

Laguna, so far, runs Mid-low 12's @111,,,,,I think I can dip it into high 11's if I put a higher stall and get the 4400 + lbs moving out of the hole better, only get's 1.9 60ft's. It's a tank. Maybe pick up a MPH or two on the top end with some good fuel as well.

69 Chevelle should be an 11 second car now with the detuned motor. Ran a best of 10.62 in race trim. Won't run it at the strip now since I put a 4-speed in it because I will not take it with crappy traction and embarrass her. It would have slicks which would likely break something. I have "played" against my buddies 6-71 blown 454 57 chev on the street and him and I were neck and neck. I was surprised, I thought he should have killed me but she runs hard.

The rest of the Berg posse aren't race worthy.
Niether 55 will go to the track and I doubt my M-20 would last very long behind that blown 427 if I did. On the street, no problem.

68 camaro convertable,,,,,,it's a Dog, won't race it. Looks bad ass though.
68 chevelle,,,,,,,,,,it's a dog, won't race it, maybe a good race for George,,,ooppssssss,,,sorry George. I couldn't resist.

Kids 69 Nova may get one of the family owned BB's which would easily drop it into 11's but he needs to get motivated or it will sit and rott.

Shirts: we need a theme and something cool for a picture.

It's nice you guy's have enough TC & Chevelle interest in general up there in Wash. It would be cool to have more interest down here in Oregon. I see a lot af Chevelles when the good weather brings em out of the wood work, but there doesn't seem to be much TC activity from down here at all. I would love to take my 69 down the track and experience it, but I would much rather and probably only do it if there were a bunch of other Chevelle enthusiests getting together at the same time.

Speaking of all the grudges, anybody else notice the kid has been off T-C for over 24 hours? Hope he's ok, not in the lock-up or something....maybe he just went out last PM, trying ta get lucky and had a buncha :beers: :beers:

FLINK and Loader1, good race.
I really gotta check out AHSOM's ride, hope he gets the troubles fixed.
IF that drag time converter is worth a damn, him having bad problems and still running mid 13....I have some homework to do. Lotta homework.

GILBY, again, SMOKEN' SBC ya got there.....

Now that I figgered out GOTAGO's rig, maybe I can play sniper and pick him off. I gotta getcha before you sort out your car, improve your driving skills, and/or move away. I'd have to do this without an engine and with loud pipes.
I'm gonna stay on FRYNTRANS about an M-20 fer ya. M-21 and 3.31s....:(

FourEightyNine
Jun 10th, 07, 1:12 AM
Thanks guys

No spares sorry this is my first set.

This is the first racing year I have taken the chevelle out. Did the 468/th400/9inch swap in the past year.

The last pass I had was 12.6 @ 110.5

r/t .087
60ft 2.028
1/8 8.163 @ 88.49
1/4 12.603 @ 110.5

Although the car dead hooked, It was bogging hard out of the hole. Causing the low 60ft and et's. I doubt the stock torque converter helped either.

I have made some changes since that pass. On that pass I was running a stock th350/ stock converter, which was about to break. When I got home from the race parked the car in the garage and the next morning I come out and see some red fluid coming out the side under the car, look under and see a big pool of fluid. Also I could tell the clutches were slipping when I put the slicks on. Luckly I had the new items on the bench waiting to be put in. Also I was running 2 1/2" exhaust with flowmaster 40series dumped at the axle.

I have now installed a hughes th400 full competition transbrake, reverse full manual valvebody transmission. ATI 8" treemaster MRT converter(4200stall). And have replaced the exhaust with 3" H-pipe Dynomax Ultraflo dumped at the rearend.

Im praying for some nice weather on Friday to see if I can make my first 11sec pass.

Nice Brian,
This weekend's weather sucks, especially if you were going to go racing. Friday is a long way from now, waiting to try a new combo.

Looks like you were losing a bunch between 1/8 and 1/4. Your new stuff should put you easily into the 11s.

So, do you only go on friday and sunday?

FourEightyNine
Jun 10th, 07, 2:12 AM
Yea im pretty sure i was losing some through the transmission, and also I believe the jets are alittle lean still have to fine tune.

I am out there every points race to help my buddy with his car. I will be doing a couple Sunday races this year, as soon as I stop making changes and know what the car will run. But coming out on a Saturday isnt out of the question I would be fine doing that.

I have been mostly going on Fridays because you can get alot of passes in.

I will wait for Mark to respond then, see if he wants to do a double duty operation. I will be putting in that summit order this week, I could order the parts for him as well so he doesn't have to pay shipping/handling. It would be easier to just make 2 exact same parts, rather than doing it seperate. Or we could screw up his car first (ie drill extra holes), then work on mine. :noway: I dont think he would go for that.

I dont think I need the rev limiter though. Dont you use your setup just for burnouts? Or do you also use it at the launch?

Yep guys, keep it all in fun! Making great friendships and a little friendly smacktalk'n is all ok. Kinda like a sibling rivalry,,,,when someone else picks on one of our own, we all beat them down.

On a side note. My buddy Joel (George seen his car) is gunn'n to beat my nova. His welfare nova is getting a new and improved engine and a t-350 with a trans brake. Now if only he can drive? I guess this would be my rivalry because he's been trying to keep up with me for 7 years.
Let's see, his 11.70-11.80's last year to my 10.50's,,,,,,,,,,,not yet! His new set-up will give me fits, may have to pull out another welfare engine to spank him.

I might have my 496 finished in about 5 years and then you'r all in trouble!
I'm glad to see everyone having a good time. I might bring out the '66 even with the small small block in it and see what it can do. It runs well for being a little 327. Is george and brett up for a small block shoot out before the big blocks go in??

I dunno, if George can get away this friday, we could race at monroe. I think he really does have me... Oh well. If he is too chicken and I have to pull my motor, then I guess we will never find out.

I'm waiting on a set of steering arms I ordered last week for the '66 and it will be road worthy again. I think I have a cam going flat in the '70, it's poping through the carb on light acceleration but I have not pulled the valve covers yet to see if I have a rocker issue.

FRYNTYR,

Joel had the 69 Nova, had a 4-spd last year. Think that was his trouble.....tricky thing to run in a Nova. I can't recall his 60' and know 1x at least a missed shift. The automatic has a forgiving launch....he may make up a lotta ground just by ditching the 4-spd. I can't recall what is under the hood other than another former circle track 355 engine.....ya don't see SCHNEIDER cams except at the circle track.

Who bought that yellow Nova last year? I can't remember the name, thinking a 1972 car.

GOTAGO,

Tried calling today....regarding return of the POWER BALL. All the shine-up stuff helped mucho.

There's a red one I think you're thinking about. I just got the rotating assembly back for his motor. Name is Jim H and his welfare nova is receiving a 427, t-350, 3500 stall, already has a 12 bolt and I picked up some Yukon axles for him. He's waiting for the 4.10 posi internals to show up from another buddy of mine. He should be up and running by end of summer. His wife is way cool, told him to go buy a NOS system for it as well. Awesome, that baby should dip into the 10.90's on a little shot of squeeze.

Heads up 468 vs 396,....you better get there first, or those Monroe 7 somethings don't mean diddly:sad:.

Let's talk #s. You are misinformed, 3.55's and Richmond 5 spd. Don't use 5th in the 1/4. Compare to m20 with 4.56 only lower. Best nhra sanctioned 1/8 8.16@86.85, 1/4 12.64@110. My problems have been in 60', usually 1.9's, but that'll be cured by the time we meet:p. Drag racing is all about the #s. If you research it you can find out the ET potential of my car and its potential for every tenth off of the 60' time. Right now, I'm causing you to :pout:think.

As for how much fun were having, I don't know about you all but the rush of going racing jacks me up more than going cruising. All the benchracing, and the adrenaline of lining up next to someone and mashing the throttle into a cloud of smoke doesn't compare.

We can go a couple routes on the T-shirts

1. Left chest on the front/ and a full back.

2. Full front and back.

3. Full front.

Also the amount of colors will change the price. Most of the time the simpler designs look the best. I am thinking a lighter colored shirt with black on it would be the best....Also we can get the best resolution with black ink.

Obviously the third design would be the easiest and cheapest to do. I can get us some good deals on the shirt and I can also do the artwork. If you guys have any pictures in mind you can post them or PM me with them. Right now we dont have the technology to make a full blown picture on the front but we can make it look plenty cool.

The amount of shirts will also lower the shirt cost, so if anyone wants some for the family or friends i would advise to get them. I highly doubt there will be a second run of T-shirts.

Let me know and ill tell you what we can do and how much.

I got a note from Mr 4 Speed CHRIS, my output guess was very very close.
OK, to the first dyno run before any jetting, etc. Pretty modest engine but flipping huge numbers! Huge band of torque above 500ft lbs. Chris wrote me early on about the move to 850 DP. He even cracked open the old How to Hotrod Your BBC book and dug out stagger-jetting! I've not looked in since TUE so we'll see where he's at now

Just another idea on the shirts......In about two months the company I work at is going to be able to put full blown pictures onto shirts. So anything you can bring up on your computer(digital), can be put onto shirts. We could even go as far as putting your own car onto your own T-shirt. And then having the Team name on the opposite side of the shirt. Quantities would not change the amount per shirt, and you could come back and get more of your car shirts at a later time if need be.
