I was wondering what the purpose of the wedge kit is in the door jambs of my 70 Chevelle convertible. I hate to cut up these new windlaces if there is no purpose for the jamb wedges in each door jamb... Steve

With less structural support than the coupe, the frame and body will flex enough that without them your door could come into contact with the jamb causing chipped paint.

Do they really require modifying the windlace? On my '69 Camaro they fit in a spot where no trimming is needed.

Yes, the original ones are cut out for the wedges. I hate cutting into the new ones, but maybe I should...Steve

If you need to modify your windlace to miss your door wedges, something is definitely wrong! On the other hand, if you want to make the crappy reproduction windlace fit and appear like the original stuff, it takes some work and some $$$$$$. I know, because I had to do it.
