: stock tank and fast ET's? is it possible?
Chief fat nutz Jun 8th, 07, 1:35 PM Trying to not go the fuel cell route on this car. I want the ugly looking stock tank in my 69' velle this time. Is there a locking gas cap for the stock tanks and is plumbing a bigger 1/2' line do-able on our stock tanks? I would assume so and I want to order a new one and use 1/2" line, thats why I ask.
Any tips to make a stock tank work for easy 10sec ET's?
blue66 Jun 8th, 07, 1:41 PM Have a sump welded in the bottom rear of the tank with 1/2" pipe fitings in it.

kjett Jun 8th, 07, 2:00 PM My car ('66 SS) ran mid 10s no problem with the stock tank (not sumped) and factory pickup. I later modified the pickup to 1/2", but it didn't make any difference in performance. I usually ran with at least 1/2 a tank of fuel so as not to uncover the pickup on launch. It is capable of more than most think.

To Run quicker with a stock tank, you need to go to electric pump. If you intend to use electric anyway, just keep the stock 3/8 line.

Chief fat nutz Jun 8th, 07, 8:08 PM I was gonna use A1000 fuel pump and 1/2" line to carb which later will be EFI. Im just set on using a stock tank.......just need a good gas cap that doesn't leak out when launching:noway:

Just make sure you are vented...don't want to make your tank smaller...
