Is there a way to bench test or check something to see if the horn is any good? I looked in the search and it had a website for a place that rebuilds them for 229.00 a little to steep for me right now. Thanks,Tom

If they are on the car just take a wire and jump the horn to the + batt post. Make sure the horn has a good ground first.

WOW!

I don't know what all is involved in rebuilding a horn, but that sure sounds like a lot of money for a horn.

I played around for a few years looking for 70 horns for my one owner. I did find horns that would work for a while, But they were also 37 years old. Heard Albert Galdis horns on his 69 COPO, They were done at the Hornworks. Got mine done. The new rebuilt horns sound like a freeken diesel locomotive horns. I am happy and this will last for another 37 years.

What, TWO wasn't enough? ;)

I don't doubt that rebuilt horns would be nice, but back in the old days we'd just run down to the junkyard... yadda yadda getoffmylawn.

Maybe I'm just cheap. Sometimes the expensive little parts astonish me.

Have you ever seen or heard a set of my horns? I don't know but I will criticize. Horns are not like starters or alternators. You can not buy parts for them . I have to make myself or have made every part including the rivets. I then spend 5-6 hrs or more on every set to make them perfect and louder than new. I have business expensives like web site creating and hosting. 3 adds in Hemmings. Shop equipment .phone heat elect. taxes. I don't make alot at this but I enjoy it and try to keep my price low so that everyone not just corvette people can afford it. Its my way of supporting our hobby. Gary

I've used Gary. I sent the horns that came with the car to him to rebuild. Didn't like what GM was selling but had to put something on the car to pass state inspection. When Gary got the horns he called to say that the horns I sent were not original but "service" horns. Asked if I wanted the right ones. I figured I was in for sticker shock. Surprisingly, it wasn't bad so I went with them. He's a nice guy to deal with.

I didn't mean to offend, I understand that if that is what you need to charge, then that is it. It does sound like a lot of work, and that there is a lot of skill involved in doing the work. Please don't get me wrong, I wasn't criticizing at all.

In fact, my hat is off to you since you do support the hobby, and I don't aside from buying the few inexpensive things that I do buy.

Sorry if I what I said came out wrong.
