I had problems with a valve cover leak at the track today, good gaskets but cheap stamped steel valve covers. What tall valve covers are you BBC guys running and do they clear the stock power brake booster. I am looking at Summit,Edelbrock elites,Dart or Brodix cast aluminum valve covers, maybe the Comp polymers too. TIA

Hey there,

Congrads on track outing. Cool hotrod.

Have run tall Moroso and cheap no-name steel valve covers on my 1970 with 454 / stock steel heads / stock motor mounts. Cleared power brake booster without denting the valve cover. Just a tight fit.

Have not tried the covers you mention.

Running old style Cal Custom cast aluminum valve covers these days..........they fit over Crane gold roller rockers (however no stud girdle). Using basic cork valve cover gaskets.

Good luck....Joe.

Bob,
I have been lookin at the Moroso Die Cast valve covers in black crinkle... Pretty nice..

$100 a pr, shouldn't have any problems with leaks, but they won't be baffled... I would install some internal baffles.

May order some of those for my 505. Filed the rings for it today AGAIN..

Congrats on your maiden voyage at the track, sounds good so far. I run the Comp polymers now, and have also run the cast aluminum. No clearance problems with either cover at the brake booster, and no leaking problems at all.
