I have a carb at home that has a TRC sticker on in and im trying to trace in on the net with no luck.

p.s. I bought a set of TD pullies and alt bracket let me just say junk junk junk junk junk you get what you payfor. Stay away.

Since been replaced with march pullies, a little high in price but compared to the rest worth every penny.

TRC was a great name in carbs during the 1980s, used a lot by engine builders who ran my UltraDynes. It was a break-off from Reed Cams' carb shop, or was their carb shop, moved away.
I pulled many a 575-625 BHP out of a 355 with a 750 TRC on it.
I know no current info on them, they're probably out of business, but check with Reed to see if anyone knows what happened to them.

Thanks guys good to know
I have a carb from them Id like to run since I know it wass in working order when pulled of a trans am car a few years back.
Harold what cams did you do that with the sbc?
You aslo mentioned to me that using a 108 with lots of nitrous makes the car violent, what causes that?
thanks

As far as the cams we used, on ProMotorEngineering's dyno(now a NASCAR engine builder) his mule 355 with 12.5:1, and a set of turbos done by Ron's Porting would make 576 at 7200 with the TRC 750 and a SB288/296R6. Testing a SB289/300R5 in that engine against the SB288/296R6, we made 585 about 7200, but a little less torque under 5000.
We tested most of my SBC rollers for oval and road racing in that engine, and with spring/lifter changes, also flat tappets. The SB288/296F5 would make 516 at 7000, the same day as the SB288/296R6 would make 576 at 7200.
Other engine builders also used the TRC 750, but I had the most dyno information from ProMotorEngineeriing.
On 108 LSA, and other tight LSAs, lots of NO2 produces an extremely rapid change in the torque curve, which makes the car extremely difficult for a driver to keep straight. That is one of the main advantages of wide LSAs for NO2 engines, a much smoother torque curve. My 632s using 750+ NO2 shots use 118 LSAs......

Thanks Harold!
Please tell me you mean chevy turbo 292 cast heads right? Where do I find the specs for those two cams list?

Jester1,

Of course I meant the 292s. We make a little more BHP with twin turbochargers!!!!
The 288/296R6 was UltraDyne's most famous cam.
288/296 at .020 255/263 at .050 176/183 at .200 .626"/.626" valve lift, .026"/.026" valve lash.
The 289/300R5 was its' bigger brother.
289/300 at .020 256/267 at .050 179/187 at .200 .638"/.638" valve lift, .026"/.026" valve lash.
The 288/296R6 is available from Lunati as their 501C1LUN, or from Bullet under the old name. The 289/300R5 is available from Lunati as their 501C4LUN, and again, from Bullet as the 289/300R5. Ask for Steve at Lunati or Tim at Bullet.
If you want a much better one(those are 23-27 years old!), I have a 283/291 at .020, 255/263 at .050, 180/186 at .200, and .625"/.625" valve lift, .016"/.016" cam. It has so much bottom-end that I have been cutting most of them on 108 LSA to help hook them up. I also have similar cams with .645", .660", and .682" gross valve lifts.
Bob West on Team Chevelle has a 283/291R8 in his 505 cid, 3880-lbs Chevelle, and I believe he's running 10.40s or a little faster.

I ran a TRC 390 holley on my 9:1 compression small block in my stock car during the late eighties and they were located in the south where we raced. They always provided track support at the Lanier track near Atlanta and were a series sponsor for the All American Challenge series of NASCAR with contingency money if you used their product. At that time, TRC made one of the best 390 carbs on the planet and they were alot of others that didn't perform well on the track, although they made good numbers on the dyno but didn't drive particularly well. The TRC was all of the above.

Harold,

This is off subject, but since you are around. That great Towing cam you designed in the Ultradyne line (302A4, I think) that you have mentioned numerous times in other posts, can I have something ground like it in a solid lifter profile?
I don't mind lashing valves (my stock car background) and I'm looking for a camshaft to run in my '86 chevy dually. Can you help me?
