Not sure if this is the right forum, but here go…

I made the mistake of getting Zink Finish Holley Carbs, well if anyone runs them know they are impossible to keep clean. Was wondering how the Chrome Holley Bowls hold up in terms of maintaining their look?

Anyone have them? Any thoughts? Thanks

Dan

i know what you mean about that zink stuff, just keeps flaking-the chrome bowls are pretty decent-you just have to go over them and make sure the squiter hole is not blocked

Thanks forcd-ind, sounds like you know the drill with the zink carbs, So I figure I'd just get the chrome and be dome with it. :)

The only problem with chrome Dan is that they hold heat. Gas and heat do not make for a very good running situation. I like the stock Holley gold tinge myself. You know what they say.....Chrome Don't Get Ya Home!!

LOL, I actually have a Chevelle. Can you believe it? :)

Powder coating might be a good idea. How's that working for you?

I have had the carb back for about 3-4 months just wipe with a cloth or with pledge for more shine no problems. We have a high salt atmosphere here and the carb went back to Performance carbs in Ontario Ca. pretty oxidized it cleaned up well and looks great now I also went with the stainless dress up kit fasteners and fuel inlet line. The car is still on Maui so no pix right now.

Looks good but still a problem to maintain to me.

Thanks Mike

Exactly, with my carbs sticking through the hood, I would like them to at least look nice. The Zink was a huge mistake. I just thought chrome would be easier to maintain. The powder coating sounds intriguing as well.

Decisions Decisions. :(

If the carb is on top of a phenolic spacer, you really don't have to worry about that.

Plus they stick outside the hood, which has helps a little.
