I pulled the cam gear drive unit off my '72 vintage small block and I need some help to install the new roller chain set I have to replace it. The instructions are not real clear and this is my first try at this!

I rolled the motor over to TDC, # 1 rockers were not moving when the timing mark lined up, so I think I did get TDC. Now when I install the crank sprocket and cam gear the marks are opposed. In the picture enclosed with the new timing set it shows that the mark on both gears should match up. In other words, the crank gear mark at 12 o'clock and the camshaft gear at 6 O'clock. Both are at 12:00 O'clock now. What did I do wrong?

You're OK. Turn the crank one more turn and they will be next to one another. When the mark on the cam gear is at 6 o'clock #6 is firing, at 12 o'clock #1 is firing.

Thanks Pat, I finally figured it out once I read the manual one more time.
