I put a quick performance 9" under the 69 and my sway bar it too wide to go between the control arms. The factory bar is 37 1/2 wide at the front bolts. When I measure between the control arms its 36".

I guess i'm the only idiot to put a ford nine inch under a chevelle. When I get it figured out i'll post the results just in case someone does the same thing.

I do not understand how the control arms can be spaced any different no matter what type of rear end is hung on them. Are you sure the bar just isn't sprung out a little and will still fit if you give it a good push?

Sounds like your control arm brackets at the 9" were welded in the wrong place. I have a 9 out back of my '66 and the bar fit fine. Good luck.

I think they were moved inboard a little. Its only 3/4 per side but that bar dont give that much.

Use a Ford one if you can find one for this rear.

Make sure you installed the control arms with the mounting holes for the sway bar toward the axle. The mounting hole closest to the axle should be approx 5" from the rear axle bushing.

the control arms are jegs round tube arms with the sway bar holes made in them with small tubing. Thats something i need to check that they are installed correct because I didn't know that.

I have GW tubular arms and the sway bar fit just fine. I really don't think the brackets could be welded to the housing wrong as that would cause difficulty during installation and binding when driving.

Wheels68 got it right. The car had a 10 bolt when I got it and no sway bar, so when I put the bars on I put them on backward. Thats whats great about this site. I have been told that an aftermarket bar has a bigger dip in it than a stock bar. I think I will need a little more clearance because I have a jack pad on mine. Once again thanks for all the help on this.
