long story short my mom was driving my dad's 350/th350 '80 corvette to work the other day and it cought a small fire around the base of the carburetor. one of my mom's students happened upon her and said "hey my my dad's a vette mechanic that's all he does." I haven't seen the damage but apparently the throttle shaft has been wobbly since we bought the car last year and it started spraying fuel out suddenly which shorted the electric choke and sparked igniting the engine bay (plenty fixable no biggy).
I was wondering about which carbs would be good for his application. The Edelbrock that is on it is too tall and we aren't big fans of quadrajet but I was wondering about the pros and cona of a holley street avenger versus the BG road demon, not the jr. I know for sure that both carbs are bolt on, set the idle mix and go from past expiriances and I like that. my question is what would be better for his motor (specs below) for drivability, handling, etc.
The Combo:
#s matching L-82 230hp 350
edelbrock dual plane highrise intake
hooker 1 5/8" headers
shift kit in the th350 trans
stock gears
soon we are going to rebuild the motor to about 350-380hp so we need a carb that can grow a little. I am currently doing a little research right now and need a few opinions.
Thanks

a Qjet is still the best option.

A basic holley 600 vacume secondary would be my choice, tuned to your combination of course.
