does anyone have any useful advice for swapping the guts from my old doors to the new shells i bought. from what i hear it is relatively simple but i never in my life actually had the inner workings of a door apart. will there be any riveting involved and will i need anything other than basic tools and mechanical understanding? thanks guys -John

I have never done it, but I have taken them apart. Also, if you have an assembly book, it is detailed there. Hope that helps and let me know how you made out.

Simple hand tools are all thats required. A 7/16" socket and a phillips screwdriver will get almost all of it. You will probably need an impact phillips screw driver to get the latch mechanisum loose. One important note: some of the window tracks are held with adjustable screws. These are the ones with the regular screwdriver slot in the head with a nut securing them. You want to hold the screw and remove the nut without changing the position of the screw. Those are your window adjustments and you will be better off transferring them to your new door without changing them. Some final adjustment may be nessecary.
