: temp gauge problems

Hello again,

I've searched and found some ideas, however I'm a wee bit confused. The temp gauge in the 67 does not work at all. I've grounded the line to the engine, no gauge movement. I traced the wiring from the heat sensor back through the firewall and found it connected to the INT section of the fuse block. However, the wire that came from the block did not go to the temp gauge. Not sure where it goes, but it's not to there, that's for sure. So? I disconnected the wire from the sensor and attached it directly to the bottom post on the gauge. When I turn the ignition, the gauge pegs to Hot. Where do I go from here?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would prefer to use the stock gauge versus putting one under the dash. Still have an RPM gauge problem, but wanting to tackle this first.

Thanks,

Perry

Edit - I think the temp gauge and sensor are mis-wired. This is an SS temp gauge in the dash. It looks to have two posts, one on top, the other on the bottom. In reading other posts, it seems I should have a wire coming from one of these posts to the INT terminal, with a wire joined to that, leading to the temp sensor on the manifold. I'm assuming the top post is a ground? Please let me know if that's the case. I'm thinking the gauge actually works. It's either mis-wired or the sensor is bad, or both?

I also could use some help on the RPM gauge. But that'll be a different post.
