I know there is, but the reason I'm asking is that Arik Korman from KZOK's Bob Rivers Show is looking for a '70 Chevelle, preferably green but other colors would be considered. He wants to use it for a photo op for the Tacoma Tribune. I thought it might be a cool opportunity for someone to get their car in print.

Heck, if it's black and white print maybe they could shoot the nose of an Elky?

It's for a "First Car" article. I guess Ariks first car was a '70 Chevelle and he wants his picture taken with one for the article.

Greg,

My contact in Spanaway has a 70 SS 396, same color scheme as my Elky and a 70 SS 454 Ragtop, red w/white stripes, top, and interior.....
None of them green........
I have seen one dark green 70 "SS" (not verified if real or not, have only seen each other in passing) by Pierce JC roughly 1x /week. Will investigate.

George, I'll pass on the info to Arik. I'm kinda thinking if they are shot in black & white your color blue could pass for green.

Thanks for the info!

Greg,

EVERYBODY KNOWS that the 70 Chevelle had rectangular turn signals in the front bumper and the 70 El Camino had round turn signals like the Monte.

You should have a pic on file of my Elky for Arik.
I do have the ph# for the son of the guy who has the two 1970 SS Chevelles.
think the Red with White stripes would be better contrast for B&W pics. I just called the kid Mike. Will PM you his cel phone number. He and his dad have all the contacts......

George,

Thanks for the parking light recognition lesson. LOL I didn't know that.

I passed along to Mike Jones (Not Arik Korman as I had previously mentioned) Hopefully he will make a Chevelle connection with your buddy and get his ride in the paper.

Thanks for the quick hook up!

EVERYBODY KNOWS that the 70 El Camino round turn signals are hideous and that the 70 chevelle turn signals are much nicer looking. What bites is I'm going to have to look at those giant orange eyes in my rear view mirror when I smoke ya... :p

PS: They also all know that 68's are way cooler...

Ref Chevelle and Elky frt turn signal lights:

The only way Brett will be in front is if he redlights trying to get the jump on me. I'm actually counting on him to be :boring: and cutting a bad light :p GOTAGO has spoken Brett, you are in trouble come race day.

(actually I care less about who wins the race, the BS and Hot Air from all the posturing is way more fun!)

Another hectic afternoon. To the house and see how many little friends I have on ice (wifey bought me a half-rack for my Bday!). Probably have to work all Saturday, 1/2 day Sunday.....

Me, Red light? You better hope I do, my reactions should be about half yours. :hurray:

Brett,

I turned 48 22 May, right after the Smokey Point show.

We'll all see about experience and reactions some time soon at the track so save your hot air. Perhaps we should box some time, eh? Combatives in the sawdust pit? Just see how slow the old guy is, eh? Maybe a 10-mile ruckmarch if you can get away from your Nintendo for a couple of hours without going into clinical depression!

Am glad I convinced you to go BBC, you won't look back. Glad you are getting some deals. Seems you are following the Pied Piper (me) pretty straight along the path. Sell those peanut port truck heads or have Darryl keep them for future use on his motor home.

Anyway, out to the garage to see what is causing mayhem with the RatVette. Will pop the top of the carb and look for crud inside...then get into the Electrical if I find nothing wrong....

Dave,

Nintendo, X-Box, PS-2, wii, all playgrounds of the devil!!!
Kids should be learning to play instruments, arts, crafts, hobbies, yardwork, house cleaning.....and spending time with their parents learning values and working on old Chevys.

RatVette was so low on fuel I had to get a few drops ($15) into the tank. She started running really strange pulling into the neighborhood. I pulled into Dennis's drive and we looked for glaring faults...none....lazy
Snugged the intake, carb, adjusted idle mix, advanced the timing more. Also gave her more accelerator pump stroke. She's at 15" manifold vacuum...at least one more inch that ever recorded...the power is back. Thing is, initial timing is 18-19 degs. Gotta put the timing tape on tomorrow....check all this out... So much initial...I know this puts her over on the total adv, I'd not be surprised to see 40 deg total.... Taxing to my starter/btty combo yet she shuts right off.....and she freekin' JUMPS now.

George, I dont want to fight you, just race you. I am a man of peace. Although I havent trained in a few years I happen to be a 1st degree black belt. Shotokan Karate was a hobby of my past years, airplanes and now cars have long since taken over. Running, ugh. I dont like running much, I have been jogging in the neighborhood a few nights a week, it allows me to drink more beer. :beers:

Down Under Dave,

When are you going to get that Chevelle? Send some pics when you get it. Smoke-em.

Greg 66 Buick Special,

OK, know you have those tires from Darryl. When are you going to get a POSI? I love my new 3-series Eaton and 3.42 gears Darryl installed. From the heads from you, the tuning and tweaking, the gearset, she's pretty impressive these days for a 350 in a big car. I think it had the old ext when we did the head swap. I'm glad to know my heads are taking on everybody up north.....

It's locked in a 20 foot box at Longbeach waiting for the boat, so still 4 long weeks to go yet.

George,

Posi is definitely in the future. It's only a matter of money and right now there isn't enough of it.

My 3.08 gears are actually pretty decent with my 26" rear tires, with the 28" DR's they will definitely not be optimal. When the time comes it's looking like swapping the entire rear assembly out for a used chev 10-12bolt unit will probably be cheapest and offer a lot more aftermarket support down the road in regards to posi units, axles, etc. These Buick 8.2's are spendy to build in comparison and your options are limited.

Still digging around for a pr of wheels for the DR's. Finding someone wanting to get rid of just two wheels with the right offset, bolt pattern, etc (for cheap) hasn't been easy.

Greg- I'll have a whole set of the factory 15x7 rally's coming back to me in about a month(on my neighbors car in the bodyshop)- you are welcome to have 2 of them for race wheels, if they aren't too skinny for what you need... My neighbor and I are splitting the other two to keep as spare tires.

I think when I upgrade the Elkys wheels and tires....
Both are 15x8"

A. Mount drag radials on one pair
B. I could throw the lot onto RatVette. Those redlines look good but they are terrible driving, bad handling. RatVette with these 'old school' wheels off the Meeno would look period-correct bad-boy road-racer for trips up north...

Thanks for the offer Ben. If I still haven't found 15x8's by then I might just hit you up for a pr.:)
