I just picked up a 2 door 1971 chevelle , The story behind this car is kinda unbelievable. If you can imagine this car was abandoned by the previous owner and I got it for free:hurray:, it has a built 350 in it with the cowl induction hood and a hurst shifter, the body is perfectly straight with minor work needing to be done. The interior is the original lime green and kinda worn out, the paint on it now is black and not very good. I am still in shock each time I look outside and see it in my car port. I am very happy, I drive it every chance I get LOL , screw the gas prices I just love driving it. I will post some pictures ASAP.

the money you saved by getting the car for free pays for a lot of gas, even at over $3 a gallon.

Sine I took this picture I have replaced the quarter window post on the passenger side and also replaced the whole quarter window on the drivers side. I live in Wa state so I had to put in a new windshield wiper motor also. The previous owner took that out along with the break booster and the power steering pump, I guess it all comes down to making the car as light as possible?

Sure get a car that runs and drives, while some of us have huge piles of parts. I'm so jealous now I need to live vicariously through other owners.

Ok the story goes like this...

I have a sister in law, she had an ex husband who moved back in with her and brought the car with him, he put it up for sell. Well after about a year or so he up and left her again and took her little rice burner with him. He then called her and said sell my chevelle and send me the money when you sell it. She said and I quote " FU I'm going to have it towed to the junkyard and charge you for the towing" He then told her to do whatever she wanted and hung up the phone. So about a year ago my dad knowing the value and all around condition of the car tells her that he would be willing to tow it away to save her the trouble and he didn't think the car was worth much and blah blah blah,,,,she fell for it LOL He called me to come tow it for him but when we got there and dropped a good battery in it the car fired right up and I drove it back to his house. In that 15 min drive I fell in love with the car, by the time I got to his house I was pleading with him to sell it to me, he said NO WAY im gonna restore it, I know my dad and he is busy as hell and has no time or money to do any such thing. Anyways after a year of me asking him when he wanted me to come and pickup my car he finally gave in and said yes, come get the car you can have it....I grabbed tow dolley and got to his house in and hour and had it in my driveway that same day =].

the end..

I lub my dad... =]

Sounds like a great deal for you, BUT before you invest a bunch of money & time, get a clear title from the state. You don't want the current title holder showing up on your doorstep to claim his/her car after you have invested in it. I wouldn't know what is involved in Washington State, but every state has proceedures to get a new title.

It's all good, I got the title the day I picked it up and it is already in my name with new title in Wa. I did have to pay some cash to cover the estimated value of the car on , oregon has some law that you have to pay the sales tax on any vehicle sold out of state.
