I was just watching "Jeopardy" and a commercial came on for a service called "Cash Call" with Gary Coleman as the spokesperson, so you know it's legit....

Anyway, the fine print flashed by a little quick and I thought I saw something outrageous. I HAD to look it up.

Check out these low, low interest rates (http://www.cashcall.com/General/Rates.aspx)!!!!!!

That's almost as bad as the "cash advance" places that are on every street corner in America.

Most of their customers need cash to buy a coke-lawyer.

What's really wrong with this picture is that the people using those loans are the ones who can't afford them. For some reason, they think: "I can't afford that car/ATV/boat or whatever today, and my credit is so lousy that I have to take a loan from these sharks, but surely enough I'll have the money to pay it back later on". This is what keeps the repo men in business.

On the same topic: I heard a funny commercial on the radio a while ago:

"Bad credit, no credit, divorce? No problem, anyone can afford a mobile home from us! Right now, we are overstocked on repos and can offer incredible deals..."

Repos? Didn't you just say that anyone can afford your mobile homes? :clonk:

I checked "California" on that site, and they have one thats 446% ($10K loan, 120 months, $371/mo)

Have to pay for the advertising, celebrity spokesperson and the cost of all those defaults their probably going to get...

Just think of some poor schmuck somewhere getting one of these loans... Now they can get those 24" rims for their Donk or that plasma TV, and only have to come up with another $260 each month for the rent money...
Idiots...

Ignorant people just look at the payment to see if they can make it.
Not the total cost of the loan.

It doesn't say much good for the principles of those making the ads. They are no better taking the money to advertise this stuff than the ones loaning the money out. These guys are preying on the desparate, foolish, and people not capable of looking after their own business. When the government wants to, it can pass laws in a heartbeat. When money or sex is involved it takes a lot longer it seems.
