can anyone please help me positively identify this part? its part of the front disc brake setup on my 71 el-camino, the part that connects to the tie rod end and the back of the mounting bracket, I believe. not this one, but the one currently on my el-camino is bent, preventing me from allowing a good front end alignment job being done.

also, if anyone could tell me where i might be able to buy this part too, because i'm having a hell of a time with this!

thanks alot

here's a side view of that part, as installed

Steer arm... They are the same on drum-brake cars, and all 64-72 A-bodies (Chevelle, El Camino, Skylark, Cutlass, LeMans, GTO, etc) so they are plentiful in the junk-yards if you have any locally with old stuff.

The first few years have slightly smaller holes where they bolt to the spindle, but dimensionally they are the same.

thanks alot Derek, I knew this would be the same across a-bodies but I didn't think that front-drum cars would have this part also.

My local junkyards are pretty poor when it comes to old cars, but it should be easier to get this part now that I know what its called!

If anyone reading this has a spare one of these lying around, please sell it to me! Not easy to find this thing on regular retail places, especially stand-alone, not as a kit.

When I did my disc upgrade a couple of weeks ago, I decided to use the arms from the drum spindles because they needed less cleanup than the ones I got with my disc setup. Turns out the bolt size on the drum ones was smaller (I think 5/16" vs. 3/8") and it didn't look like there was enough meat left to drill out the holes (at least not since I had a set of the correct ones) I didn't want to use the smaller bolts.

Just some info.

Thanks cooter, that's what this thing will become when I get a decent replacement for it.

You guys wouldn't believe how hard it is to find this part, especially in the regular online parts retailer places. Only found it on ebay, only one guy seems to be selling them

looks close enough, these will work right? Seller says they are for a 72 chevelle.

Will '67 throw '74 F/X rear steer arms work IF you swap them side to side and point them to the front??No, Chevelle steer arms point straight out, and F/X arms are bent down a couple inches below the spindle.
