: Finally Hit My Number!!
nolimitpkr May 31st, 07, 2:39 PM I know that it may not seem like a big to deal to most, but I finally was able to break into the 13's last night. New personal best for my 68 is now a 13.98 @ 99.07 mph. It has been a major goal for me to have a 13 second chevelle, and after a lot of work I made it.
I want to thank everyone on the forum for helping me out with little questions, many that probably seem trivial at times, but I am just trying to learn as much as possible.
Special thanks to Tom Mobley for all the qjet advice.
Future mods will hopefully be some 3.73's, a stall higher than 2000 rpms, and a holley.
Here are a couple of pics of my chevelle and my buddies from last night!!!!

Rowdy Jun 1st, 07, 3:07 PM Brian,
Are you going to the track tonite?
At this moment, I am seriously considering it.
Did you know that there is a car show downtown. I'd read something about it earlier in the week, but figured it for Sat and/or Sun. A buddy that is an engineer at the Las Vegas Club just called me and said that the whole Fremont Street Experience is full of bada$$ hot rods on display.
I may check that out this afternoon.
nolimitpkr Jun 1st, 07, 4:34 PM Yes there is a bad azz car show on Fremont street this weekend. I believe it is Friday, Sat and Sun. I might go to the track as a spectator tonight but I cannot run because I haven't registered my ride yet. Let me know if you are going to go downtown this sometime this weekend.....
Brian.....
Rowdy Jun 1st, 07, 4:47 PM I assume that you went to Wed Nite Street Wars?
I went once, got there real late. Isn't it more of a Test-N-Tune for bracket guys with some kind of organized competition loosely mixed in?
I'm assuming that they must not ask for registration and insurance, wonder why they call it street wars. If I remember correctly, you also have to go through Tech Inspection. Do you have to state a dial in at tech?

Ok Rowdy, this is how it pretty much works on Wednesdays. There is street wars for cars that are registered, basically all you have to do is show proof of registration and insurance and your in. This is done by the tech inspectors, but I have seen them loosely inspect the street legal cars, especially anyone who looks quick. I know the last time I went there was a fox bodied mustang with a procharger and they asked him what kind on times he was running, and if he had a helmet, ect...
Also on Wednesdays they have bracket test n tune. This is for cars that are registered or not registered and must go thru a more intensive tech inspection. Basically it is an opportunity for people who compete in the Jerry's Nugget series to test....
They assign all of the street wars vehicles with a number starting with S and put them into cetain lanes, and assign the test n tuners to their own couple of lanes. The test and tuners do not race against the street war vehicles and vice versa.
So Rowdy I guess the question is will they hassle you during tech, on Wednesdays?? I think it is kind of hit or miss, you would just have to go out there and see. They might just check your registration and insurance and say have a good night, but if they know the type of numbers your 66 is capable of, they might give you the business. No you do not have to state a dial in time at tech and I have seen some street legal camaros, mustangs and hondas put down low 11's without cages there on Wednesday..
Midnight mayhem is not a sanctioned NHRA event and I believe that is why they can get away with no tech inspection and allowing really fast cars to put down good numbers without a cage for example. I do not know if Wednesday night streetwars is sanctioned or not?????
Let me know if you ever plan to go out on a Wednesday, I am usually there....
Call me anytime Brian 702-281-7817!!!!!!!

thunderstruck507 Jun 2nd, 07, 3:46 AM Awesome man! I'm hoping for that 13 second goal soon too.
According to Tulsa my best was a 14.4 ish, but at the time my fuel filter was so clogged I couldn't blow through it when I changed it the next week and one of my spark plugs was so loose it was about to fall out.
That was over a year ago and I havent been to the track since, but she sure is running better these days, especially since the carb rebuild.
I'm happy with my car no matter what times she runs though, its fun as hell for a daily driver and never fails to get the thumbs up even with the still messed up paint from my accident.
BACK FROM THE DEAD Jun 2nd, 07, 3:47 AM thanks. it still cracks me up now and then too. it was pretty funny when my friend saw the car and said it.
BLT4FN Jun 2nd, 07, 9:16 AM Congrats.
As stated there is no known cure for this illness. :(

There is a lot of support groups around that will try and help you out, with support and advise:D
VinceS427bb Jun 2nd, 07, 11:25 AM congrats - i remember how stoked i was when my 68-malibu finally broke out of the 14teens/98ish-mph on the same run it went like 13.98@100.002mph, i kept the time slip to frame as it was a big deal, lots of work to get there.

383, Dart Pro 1 heads, Qjet, 2100 stall, th400, 3.08 gears, msd streetfire hei, 1 3/4 hooker super comps, full 3 inch exhaust, hooker aero chambers, thats about it....
30-A rider Jun 13th, 07, 3:54 PM Thanks Chris, I am really hoping with some gears, higher stall, and some sticky tires I will be able to hit some low 13's in the future :) :) !!!!!!!!!!
I think your on the right track with the increased stall and gears. What are your cam specs? What kind of intake? We need all the specs!
nolimitpkr Jun 13th, 07, 5:50 PM I think your on the right track with the increased stall and gears. What are your cam specs? What kind of intake? We need all the specs!
Cam specs are a Crower Hydraulic roller, .474/.498 duration is 214/220 @ .50 I know pretty mild. As far as the intake goes it is just a standard weiand aluminum spreadbore manifold.
I currently am running a 295-50-15 tire in the rear and am seriously considering a set of BFG drag radials, like some 275-50-15's, because I am still hazing the tires off of the line...
My best 60ft time has been a 2.179, so if I could get that down below 2.0 I would be happy........
Camaro_fever68 Jun 14th, 07, 12:16 AM .............so if I could..................... I would be happy........
This is one of those sentences that bite you in the rear:p. I wanted to get my Chevelle close to mid 11's and be happy there as to not have to build a cage. Now I find myself looking at cages thinking "that wouldn't be so bad" The disease never stops:sad:
On another note, Congrats on the new best. You car is running well to be so mild.
