Got a projct car, bod is solid, minus motor tranny and interior. I was lead to believe it was 69 ss/396. picked it up for 3500.00. I had a friend {old timmer great at body work} look at it, and he thought I did pretty good. He has taken the doors, fenders and hood and deck lid and and went through them{hit me for 800.00}. He has not found any rust so far. I purchased a 396 block for a 300.00 hundred and had it went throught and blue printed. It cost me 2200 to get it done and now its puched out to a 408. I have to get a tranny and intake and carb. I have a friend {another old timer great at his job} that has a uhpolstry shop, he hit me up for 1600.00 for a complete nos 69 chevelle interior. He has to re-uhpolster the frames. In the trunk I found a set of pedals for a manual shift set up. I did find the cowl tag and the dash was still in place, so i have the vin. The vin# 136379a313156
the cowl plate is "Body By Fisher"

I wanted to know if anyone could help me out with decoding the tags? And if you think I did ok on purchase price and how I did so far on geting what I spent on having done on it? I have tried on my own but can't make sense of them. Only one I did figure out was, paint code, glacier blue? Not sure if I am right or not.

Jason congrats! You are well on your way to having a ball. A touch of advice. Hard core card players say never count you chips. The same applies to a project like this. Try not become obessed with what you have in the car. It can take all the fun out and if your wife sees it there are severe penalties. You are going to have way more in it than it will be worth but true value cannot be judged by$$$$$$$.

The only question I have is your interior. I do not really understand $2200 for NOS from an upholstery shop. The last time I ran the figures I think you can buy everything inside for about $2500. Thats every piece including the uphostery.

Good Luck

Don't even worry about what things cost as you will NEVER recover your investment. If you're in this for a profit buy them DONE. if for the enjoyment, who cares what it costs :)

My guess is that he really doesn't understand what "NOS" means.....
