: Bigger Fuel Bowls

I'm probably mistaken in calling these 'fuel bowls', since I don't know much about specific carburetor terminology, but one time a while back I was watching HorsepowerTV and the guys took a carb (I think just your run of the mill Holley 750) and took off these two things on the sides and put two 'bigger' ones on. I think they were the little areas that your fuel sits in when it's waiting to be pulled down into the engine. Why would putting bigger things like this on? Is it so you'll have more fuel sitting in there so if you gun it, you have fuel on demand and don't have to wait on your fuel pump to call it up from the tank? I was just curious about this. Thanks.
