does harold make voodoo design solid flat tappets? checking out the 60205 hyd flat and wondering what it would spec out to if it was a solid with a fuzz more adv duration and lift something like 250/260 @ 50 290/ 300 adv duration 625/635 lift ? with all the new tech that comes with a voodoo grind. need a new cam for my 468. 10.5 comp , 310 rect ports ,3500 stall, 390 gear. also would this make comparable vaccum to the 60205 ?

Lunati makes those cams, Harold is no longer associated with them. Don't think there are voodoo solid flat tappets.

Read the "Cam choice for 505" thread.

Grovey,

It's not a VooDoo, but kinda a Ultra-VooDoo(probably be sued by BOTH companies!). I have a 280/290, designed tonight just for you, and anyone else who like these numbers. It is 280/290 at .020", 251/261 at .050", 163/173 at .200", .618"/.638" gross valve lift, .600"/.620" net valve lift, and whatever LSA it needs to be on. It is the same ramps I have been using for solid lifters for the past year, and I have been getting very good reports back from the tracks, many of those reports are from previous users of UDs in their engine building.

Tom, you are right. There are NO VooDoo flat tappets. These are improvements over my old NF-series at UltraDyne. All have been designed since the spring of 2006 and into today.

UDHarold

PS---I also have a BBC hydraulic that is 295/303 at .006", 249/257 at .050", 163/171 at .200", .623"/.646" gross valve lift, and whatever LSA is needed.

Voodoo solid flat tappets will be released very shortly (in June). Harold didn't design them.

Hi Harold, hope things are going well for you.

Why would you still call them voodoo cams if they lack the 30yrs. of design experience that the other voodoos have?

UDHarold designed a cam "just for you?" How's that for customer service!!!:p

wow, that was fast ! i guess my next ?'s are which one would be best suited for a mostly street car ? the hyd looks good to me . would it perform close to the solid with a 110 lobe sep? which 1 would pull the best in the mid range ? my old cam was a reed custom stroker hp series hyd flat 298/306 248/256 602/622 i/c 104. i had them open it up to a 110 lobe sep, thats the "custom" part. i imagine your has alot better #'s in the middle. lastly are they both cams custom grinds,or is the hyd a shelf part? thanks for taking the time to help me out harold. made my day !

No offense. Just calling it like I see it. But I dont think statements like above will help Lunati sell cams at all...especially on this site. Like the other Post said...why even call it a VooDoo cam when Harold was the brains behind the whole VooDoo line to begin with. Oh Ok ...he creates a great line and now ride his coat tails with a lower cost cam designer. I guess its all about the $$$$$$. Maybe Im mis informed...been wrong nbefore but agian just calling it like I see it.

Why buy from lunati when the same guy that designed them will custom make you one? I could have gone with a Voodoo 60111 for my car but why when I got something straight from the master himself? And i feel like I was able to repay him a very little amount for the wealth of knowledge he delivers to this site for absolutly nothing and doesn't ask for anything in exchange.

You're misinformed in several ways. Harold is a great guy and crappy things happen at all companies these days. I may walk in to work tomorrow and be asked to leave after quite a few years of service.

The new solid profiles have had a lot of testing done and they are very nice pieces.

Everyone can purchase product from whomever they want.

Anyone, and there are several, that know me personally on this website, know I don't play corporate politics, or say something is a good product when it isn't. If I recommend a product personally, it is because I know the proper design, develpment, testing went into it and would install it in my own car.

What Doug said.

What Michael said too, except for the jabbing aspect.

>>"Why would you still call them voodoo cams if they lack the 30yrs. of design experience that the other voodoos have?" Probably because they own the name and have invested money marketing the brand. Just because Harold isn't there any more doesn't mean that all their cams turned to garbage overnight.

Let's try to let our grown-up side show a little, OK?

 Whoa, whoa, whoa!!! I never meant to imply that they would be "lesser" than the other voodoo cams. Just that they don't exactly contain  Harold's "voodoo." They might contain "mojo" or "darke majik," but no "voodoo.":p

A solid cam has a higher seat velocity than a hyd. cam. The higher seat velocity translates into higher port velocity, better cylinder filing, and power.

A well designed hyd will make plenty of power, AND run quietly, with a minimum amount of the "sewing machine" sound. It won't make quit as much power as a solid, especially if the same guy designs them both(lol)

As you spread the LSA out, you mgain top-end power and bottom-end torque at the sacrifice of mid-range power. My advice is to ask Harold for a reccomendation.

Both Harold and I work for Custom Camshaft Company. The only "shelf" parts are cancelled orders. I grind them one at a time to each customer's exact requirements. Every lobe, base circle, and LSA is the same price:thumbsup:

Why buy from lunati when the same guy that designed them will custom make you one?

Because he wasnt setup and making cams yet, and i thought Lunati was the company it used to be.

It's not a VooDoo, but kinda a Ultra-VooDoo(probably be sued by BOTH companies!)

Well mine was a VooDUD, so i hope i get it back in Ultra-Correctly machined state. I dont give a **** if its got fairy dust sprinkled on it ;)

Im going to call it my HooDoo cam!

At first i could not believe i bought into the Marketing gimmick of the Voodoo line, till i looked around and realized there wasnt another out of the box profile i could find that was exactly what i thought i wanted. Because i was going to just replace the damn thing. Now i know there are plenty of customs but i ordered and had my cam 2 days later ( so that should count for something and tell me why it wasnt machine correctly ). But now that i pulled it and sent it off to be fixed how much time did i really save?

Tell you something else i liked,

I called Lunati for 2 weeks at least 3 times a day holding for 15 mins each time before i gave up and hung up.

How many time do you think it took to reach Dacaman12 or UDHAROLD?

you guessed it.

10 years ago i would have driven it to memphis myself and spent a few nights in jail and some community service/fines would follow. Ultimately i would have also gotten into it with someone in jail further complicating matters and/or death.
