: Who uses MT ET Street Radials
KS64SS Feb 10th, 05, 7:08 PM Just looking for pros and cons on this tire. Want to be able to drive to the track without having to put slicks on when I get there. Due to size restrictions on a 64 SS, the only size I can run is the 235/60R15.
Thanks,
BRAD
BillsCamino Feb 10th, 05, 7:26 PM I run a 275/60-15 M/T ET Street radial on my '70.
Probably the best drag radial I've bought to date. And I've had Nittos and BFGs previously.
doggy69 Feb 10th, 05, 8:38 PM Best for traction, wear or both?
Bob West Feb 10th, 05, 10:20 PM I've heard Nittos are the best for wear, BFG's work for me,,,havent tried M/T's yet

The Nittos were awesome! Good wear and good traction. I believe these are the only drag radials with a tread wear rating (100).
For me, the BFGs wore out very quickly but traction improved the more they wore down.
KS64SS Feb 11th, 05, 7:55 AM Thanks for the replys, I'm looking for a tire that I can drive to and from the track (about 10 miles each way), and get much better traction at the track than my street tires, car is not driven daily. I hope the tires can get me at least through one race season. Looking to drop the 60 ft time too, right now with street tires it's around 2.10 - 2.20.

BRAD
Bob West Feb 11th, 05, 8:39 AM You can forget about a full season on BFG's, I started the season with M/T slicks and finished with drag radials, you might try Nittos to make the whole season, not sure how they hook though. Its tough to get a whole season on one set of tires, racing for points anyway.

blumont Feb 11th, 05, 9:32 AM Maybe a stupid question but,do drag radials like BFGs' come with a raised white letter so if someone wanted to keep the look consistent with the fronts?

Bob West Feb 11th, 05, 10:27 PM A Camaro is a whole different animal than a Chevelle, alot tougher to hook a Chevelle, especially on a small tire.
Jerry, you could color/paint the letters yourself,I've never seen them with raised white letters.
68Malibu Feb 11th, 05, 10:32 PM I run ET Streets and I drive to the track... 65 miles each way. No problems. I would not make any abrupt side-to-side manuevers at speeds on the highway if you can help it.

Best to date with the '70 is 1.507 60' on a 10" slick.
We're still working on that...
;)
Bob West Feb 11th, 05, 10:51 PM Have you tried radial slicks yet Bill? I've got 30x9x15 radial slicks on the car now, I'm going to give them a shot, if it will ever quit raining on sundays :(
Harold Sutton Feb 12th, 05, 12:38 AM Tulsa is getting a lot of water on the weekends too, Robert. At least it's mostly liquid.

Have you tried radial slicks yet Bill? Not yet Robert. I'm due for a new set of slicks very soon and may give them a try. I've also seriously thought about going with a taller (29.5) tire.
