I kinda doubt it'll be that light. Need more info too.

What kind of rear end?

Disc Brakes?

Radio?

All stell body/hood/trunk?

AC/Heater?

Buckets or Bench?

Rollbar/Cage?

Tubbed or stock trunk?

Steel or Alum wheels?

Lots of stuff to consider. 3100 is pretty darn light, that's is lighter than a Camaro/Nova with an Iron-head SBC and full interior.

Well, the closest I can find is specs for a 67 Malibu.

Base Curb weight of a V8 Malibu is 3260lbs.

Bucket seats are an extra 34lbs.

Stock Front Discs: extra 33lbs.

That is 3327lbs curb weight.

Add your am/fm w/ CD changer's weight.

Add the weight of your two amps.

Add the weight of your 10" Subwoofer.

Add or subtract the difference between your 17" wheel/radial tire set up compared to the stock 14" w/ Bias Play tires.

Add or subtract the difference between your rear disc set up compared to the stock drum set up. (Stock front drums are lighter than stock front discs)

Subtract whatever you lost with the glass hood.

Subtract what you lost with the Alum heads.

Did you add any dynamat or heat/sound insulation?

Although it can seem to be an easy thing to post a weight question, as Enrique has shown there is much more than a simple answer.

Virtually in every community there is one of the following:
1) Regular public scales
2) Certified scales
3) Moving company
4) Scrap/salvage metal recycler
5) Public dump that charges by weight

Drive it accross the scales and see what your EXACT car weighs, no mystery, usually costs $7 or so for weigh in only.

For what it is worth, when my aluminum head big block, TH400, no option '65 Elky last went accross the scale it measured in at 3,440 lbs. Since then it now has a glass hood, no inner fender wells, complete delete of all the heater box, a PC680 (13 lb) battery, and a TH 200 4R trans. On the plus weight side a 10 point roll cage was added.

My buddy's '65 Malibu with SB, Muncie and 12 Bolt, buckets seats no power anything tipped the scales at a little over 3400. That was on the scales at the strip back in the 70's. Local grain elevator scale was within 50Lbs. of that.

Just last October I weighed my stock '65 SS coupe on a state certified scale (at a truck weigh station) and it came in at 3380. The only modifications from stock were '69 SS wheels and a larger front sway bar and a rear sway bar. This was with a half tank of gas. The car has a 327, 4-speed, 12-bolt. It does not have AC, power brakes or power steering.

chev65, The Z-16, according to NHRA weighes 3350 and the small block is listed at 3163 but these figures don't include options. A weight of 3680 is way heavy for an early model Chevelle, may have Jimmy Hoffa in the trunk.

Two ten isn't so bad, marooned, unless your 5'4" of course. Sounds like the car has a few unneccessary items, like the two batteries for example. A chrome moly cage is about half of what a mild steel one weighes but i hear they are prone to cracking at the welds. Wilwood makes some lightweight disc brakes that weigh a lot less than regular chevy ones. A Turbo 350 is about 20 pounds lighter a 400 and holds up just fine behind 500-600 H.P. when built with good parts.

i have wilwood brakes and i orderd on 6/04 and still didnt get the fronts 1/05 its been a nightmare with HOT RODS USA trying to get a refund on parts i never recived,so if your getting some dont get them threw HOT RODS USA

I'd say Hot Rods USA must not be so HOT. If they see their names in print for their bad behavior it usually gets them in gear. If not, contact the attourney general of the state their located in and ask about fraud charges. When his office shows up at the door they generally start asking how they can resolve the problem with you, i had a magazine subscription extension from Arizona fixed this way.
