After finding out nobody makes these pieces, and there are no NOS pieces anywhere. and I saw a 70 LS6 conv with manuel top at Mecums Saturday bring $350,000, and it was totally missing these.I knew I had to fabricate something. I listened when a fellow Chevelle tech here said he found some in the junkyard on a Corvair. I am enclosing 2 pictures, one of the finished product, and another one of the center rail catch assembly for a 70 Chevelle (one on the left), and one for a 68 Corvair. I drilled out the rivets, and riveted the plastic on to my spring steel base that was still on the car. If you are missing the base, you could bend the Corvair bracket and make it work. It looks like if you do that, you will have to enlarge the adjustment slots for fastening the catch assembly on. I just used ny old brackets, and it was very easy. I don't know if I am allowed to mention the supplier I used, ( I am new here), but if you PM me, I will be glad to tell you. I called on Friday and had the pieces on Tuesday. Hope this helps someone. Steve

You lost me, are your making the plastic part or did you find a source?

1970 was the last year for the manual top. It was a rather unpopular default option.

I hear that those clamps tend to break on the manual tops, so a good replacement is rare. Congrats on your quest.

I have one of the 814 70 convertibles that has a manual top. My solution...put a power top on, which I already bought the frame for :D

I have found a source for the plastic part that breaks. They are not a supplier who advertises here, so I did not know if I could post their name. This plastic part also fits a 68 Corvair.

Post it. We will build a statue of you and put it in front of the convertible gods. :D
