: Why is it so hard to make up your mind?
RacnJsn95 May 29th, 07, 7:25 PM I had big plans for the 68, I was gonna make it into kind of a pro-touring car, I was building an LS style 5.3, and have a T56, but I've recently decided that I would like a 70-73 Camaro as well...
I don't think I could be happy with the Camaro as a regular car, so I think I should save the 5.3/T56 combo for the right Camaro.
Plans for the Chevelle now are to do a "retro-fit" efi setup, powered by MegaSquirt, and a 200-4r auto. I think I could be happy with that.
Why is it so hard to actually make up your mind with this stuff? Why can't I just go with something? Anyone else out there have this problem?
Jim Mac May 29th, 07, 10:03 PM Be thankful your only dealing with 2 cars. Ive got a 70 chevelle, originally a AC 4 speed car. I did the SS 396 clone thing. But only had a turbo 400 at the time. I decided I need a 4 speed. I go and find a 71 el camino thats got a muncie in it. I buy it yank the 4 speed and pedals. install the pedals in the chevelle. Wife says keep the auto in the chevelle, so she can run it at the track. I go and buy a set of buckets for my 68 el camino, after I get them redone. we decide to keep the bench in the el camino. So now they go into the 71. Bought a set of 71 type SS wheels for the 68, ran them for a couple months, They ended up on the 71 el camino. Decided to toss the 71 in the classifieds, in the mean time I install a monte carlo dash. Finally decided I gotta use the 4 speed somewhere. So I decide this weekend to install it in my 71 camaro. just found the pedals about a hour away. So hopefully in a couple weeks the camaro will finally get the 4 speed I wanted since high school. Oh then theres the 12 bolt, came out of a 68 nova. Been sitting for a few months, suppose to be under my camaro by now. but Its just another thing I gotta do one of these days.
And Im really like fixing up honda ATCs (three wheelers) Im up to 4 1/2 right now 2 87 200Xs, 1 86 200S and a 76 ATC 90 plus a 85 200X frame that Im thinking of building. Jim
Widetires22 May 30th, 07, 12:47 AM Because it matters! :D
Jim, your Nova 12 bolt will need modified to fit a 2nd gen Camaro. Might be a bit narrow for the car too. It will fit a 1st gen Camaro directly though so it has great trade value.
Jason IMO it always good to have more than one. That way if you decide something needs changed you can move stuff around wherever you like
Jim Mac May 30th, 07, 2:34 AM The previous owner had lakewood perch installed at 45 inches, stock 71 should be 45 1/4. Hoping theres enough play in the leafs to make up the 1/4 inch. When I run the 8 inch ralleys, they could come in a little. So hopefully this will all work out. Really don't need a 12 bolt, but after looking, 99.5 percent of the 2nd gens run 10 bolts, so its good to be a little different. Jim
Phil Keller May 30th, 07, 2:54 AM It wouldn't be any fun if you didn't have choices.
RacnJsn95 May 30th, 07, 6:18 AM Well I actually have 2 projects currently, and I want to get a 70-73 Camaro to put the 5.3/T56 in.
My other project I currently have is a 76 Datsun 620 4x4 conversion truck. jeep front end, and transfercase, all it needs is an engine and I can start driving it around.
If I could actually stay on one project until it was finished, I might actually accomplish more.
Jim, I wish I had half the stuff you have, sounds like you have my dream yard/garage... I used to have an ATC 110. My dad traded it off for $25 bucks and a bench grinder... I was furious.
Jim Mac May 30th, 07, 10:54 AM your dream yard, garage= my wifes nightmare. Fortunately we live in a cul de sac, that was built in the late 70s so its actually got a yard. Only car not running or plated at the moment is the 71 el camino. the 6 others are drivers. (thanks to Hagerty insurance). The trikes are great, alot of folks get rid of them because they don't know how to fix them, or just too lazy. I'll go through the top ends, replace tires, cables, plastics, etc. get them decent then flip em. Jim

whacker55 May 31st, 07, 9:33 PM It's good to know someone else lays in bed, wide awake at night thinking of how they'll go about doing the next project on the car..
