: How Long Has Everyone Owned Their Chevelle?
davis95 May 28th, 07, 11:21 PM I've had mine for 21 years now. It seems like I've had mine forever. Just wondering about everyone else. I'm also aware that several of you have more than one Chevelle, so in this case post the time you've had each one.
John_Muha May 28th, 07, 11:34 PM Around 36 years but didn't see the over 30 block to vote.
Derek69SS May 28th, 07, 11:39 PM '66 wagon, almost 1 year
'69 Malibu, just under 10 years
'69 SS396, a little over 12 years
Hard to believe I've had the '69s that long already... just over half my life for the SS (I bought it when I was 12)
davis95 May 28th, 07, 11:39 PM Around 36 years but didn't see the over 30 block to vote.

That's almost exactly what I did back in '85. I'll also never part with mine.
Cardiac May 29th, 07, 12:38 AM The dealer gave me $300 for my 1967 Impala SS (sb w/powerglide) as trade in for my '67 Elcamino over 26 years ago
The purchase:
On a cool foggy spring morning, waiting for the dealer to open, I sat in a restaurant less than 3 blocks away drinking coffee for two hours. That gave the engine enough time to cool down so that it would start again. I drove it onto the lot and immediately shut the engine off. After 30 or 40 minutes of negotiating I asked how much they would give me on trade-in. Roger, the salesman, leaned back in his chair, peeked out the open door, slowly got up and walked over to my nice clean, green, Impala machine, he turned his head looking me in the eye and asked; "Will she start!" standing a little over four feet away, I tossed the keys to him and replied, "Of course she will!" :D :D
He opened the door and climbed in behind the wheel, slides the key in the ignition, gave it a gentle twist . . . VaRooooooooom. Rogers eyes lit up as the headers rumbled without missing a beat. "Wow!" he said "This baby sounds great! Why would you want to get rid of such a nice ride like this?" he exclaimed. My first thought was, 'cuz it's a turd, but I smiled and said . . . "I need a truck but want a car and that red '67 Elcamino will fill my needs."

silver chevelle May 29th, 07, 8:43 AM Will be 38 years in October. Bought mine in 1969 when I was 21, in the Army and just back from Vietnam, thinking that in a couple of years I'd trade it for a new one that would have more horses.
 Where has the time gone?
Ando May 29th, 07, 8:43 AM I bought mine when I was 15 drove it "fast" for 4 years, Put it to sleep for 13 years. Thats makes me a Chevelle owner for 17 years.

Bryan59EC May 29th, 07, 8:55 AM Being an ElCamino fan, I chose to start my projects with a 59, 'cuz, well, you know, everyone and their brother has a Chevelle.
Just a few months shy of finishing the 59, I bought a 66 Elky, 'cuz, well you know, everyone and their brother has a Chevelle.
Just a few months ago----I bought my brother's 66 Elky
frizgolf May 29th, 07, 9:03 AM Had a 69 Camaro for 21 years. Had every intention of restoring it, but the time and money never came along. One day, I got a wild hair and started looking for a Malibu ragtop. Bought a restored 69, and the Camaro had to go.
Coulda sold 20 of 'em. I hated to see that car go, but the Malibu has treated me right for five years. She's more than a suitable replacement.
00WS6TA May 29th, 07, 10:15 AM About 7 for my 70.
68bye May 29th, 07, 11:44 AM How about, How long have you had a Chevelle? I've owned one Chevelle or another for 20 years. The one I always wanted, somehow eluded me my whole life. I took a kick in the teeth to get my 68 SS that I have now, but this was what I was waiting for. Let me practice saying here, "NO, it's not for sale!" Hope it's still at the house when I get home.
OutCast May 29th, 07, 11:55 AM Mine's the newcomer here. Father's Day 2005. It was 25 years since I had my last one...68 Beaumont SD.
It's OK, you can say it...I'm going through the mid-life crisis.
But this Chevelle is going to be way faster than the last one...now that my reflexes are 25 years older.
72 malibu May 29th, 07, 12:17 PM Have had my current 'bu 18 years, 21 years as a Chevelle owner.

1966_L78 May 29th, 07, 1:26 PM Well,

Scottvelle May 29th, 07, 9:17 PM bought mine 10 +/- years ago. Hoped to get it looking better by now. My girls are going to be 7 and 5 this year. The Chevelle had to take a "back seat" for a while. Now that the girls are old enough to go for a ride, it was worth spending time with them and not the Chevelle (please forgive me).
Scott

I've loved Chevelles, Beaumonts and El Caminos since around 67/68. I've been jonsin' for one since about '70. I've owned my '67 since June 7th, 1985 and licenced it 7 years later to the day. My late aunt bought it new on March 20, 1967.
I passed a '72 project on a trailer just a few minutes ago on the 401. I guess a Chevelle fan is born every minute!
bb67H-D May 30th, 07, 6:23 PM Purschased the '67 in Febuary of 1982.
Installed big block in 1988.

Took about two years to find all the GM NOS trim, mouldings , bezels, valance etc..
and then to body shop as fender and door made slight contact.
I have hit deer in my trucks before [still sucks and I drive slow] but never in the '67 until then.

savage71chevelless May 31st, 07, 9:20 PM I bought my first Chevelle in 1989 when I was 16. It was a 1970 Malibu with a 350, a grey primered rust bucket that I paid $1,000 for. kept it 6 months and junked it. I bought my current 71 SS402 in October 1998 for $5,900. Then proceeded to put $25,000 into it over the next 9 years, but its worth it. I will never sell this car. I'm also picking up a 67 Malibu Convertible this week, with 33,000 original miles, and documented with no rust ever. I am pumped about that. Original red on red car too

My dad was very nice to make sure all the boys had a toy at 16... oldest bro had a 63 comet convertible, middle bro had a 51 ford two door, with a multi carbed flathead...
i've had a few others along the way, but i never finished any of them, just flipped them for spending money! ...69 camaro, supercharged 71 skylark, 28 A ford truck, 38 Intl truck, 56 GMC short box, several 55-57 Chevy 1/2 tonnes, 68 wildcat... i think thats about it...

Skeeveman Oct 19th, 07, 8:58 PM I must have already voted on this poll in the past... I'm only one year away from 5 years or more now though! So, I reck'n a mathematician could figure I've owned it for 4 years now.
sstasy Oct 19th, 07, 8:59 PM I could have the record. 1 week. My first Chevelle and it's great. I forgot about that "big" car ride. Have had my 69 SS Camaro Convertible for 10 years, 69 Firebird for 11, 68 Camaro for 2. After all the F bodies I have gained a new respect for the Chevelle. This ones a keeper. Check back with me in 20 years bet I'll still have it. Glad to join your ranks.
