Hey, Tom.... looks like you are off to a good start..

Many years ago I lived just down the street from you - 205 and the freeway.. (Walnut Grove).

thanks for the replies!

Larry,

yep I'm in the "Grove". I looked at your build of the 66, looking good. I prefer not to know how much work is ahead of me.

What did you use to lift off the body? Engine hoists?

Just used a floor jack. My plan was to have the car and frame apart but still be able to store the frame below to conserve garage floor space.

I built a frame around the car, sturdy 4x6 posts. The posts are positioned at the front body mounts and the body mounts just behind the axle. I also cut to length two 4x6 cross beams to slip in when the car got high enough. I jacked the car up using two 2x4s nailed togeter on the rear of the rocker panels and the front of the rocker panels. Jacking a little at a time, alternating front to back and using sturdy jack stands and large bricks for support on the way up. I also put small tires on the car and let some air out so that the car wouldn't need to be too high.

Went well, but slow. My son was with me, so had to be extra safe.

Mark,

These mechanics aren't too skilled yet but have alot of enthusiasm and their rates are the best in town. He calls me into the garage to get going.

396 boy,
Ha, ha... good eyes on the zip ties. They were there when I put the beam across, last thing I needed was for things to shift as I was screwing it together.
