that a 22 year old, 8 months out of the army, walked into Briggs Chevy in South Amboy, NJ and ordered a 1970 Chevelle Malibu. Where has the time gone?! ;) Lots of years and lots of memories, for sure. We've gotten old together..........

37 years ago I was a 4 year old sitting in a '70 Chevelle in the showroom going 'Vrroom Vrroom" while my dad haggled with the salesman to buy our gold '70 Chevelle wagon.

You said it Jerry, "Where has the time gone."

I'm 38 and frothing at the mouth as I type. Memories are the greatest thing that anyone can hold onto.

That's amazing! When you think about it most people buying or leasing new cars today get rid of them after only a couple of years. But maybe most new cars today aren't really worth holding onto for 37 years. Cool for you!

One-owner, 70 Chevelle..pretty cool. Call GM and see if that extended warranty is still good.

Dang youngin'
Jerry, ran across an Emerson table top radio built in 1960. Yours for the shipping if you want it. Plastic case but not cracked. Think all the guts are inside. PM me.

I almost feel like I bought my 66 new just because I've owned it for 21 years. Owning a classic like this from birth would definitely be an indescribable delight.

Too bad they didn't have a 69 leftover on the lot. You'd have wound up with an even better Chevelle !! ;) I guess they were just too desirable.

Just kiddin ya Jerry.
Good to see you come out of hibernation.

Jerry I want to be you for reals. I am jealous.
That post brought a tear from my eye and smile form my face.
I hope there are many more like it.

Jerry did you think you'd ever have your car this long?

At one point did you decided to just "hang onto it"? I'm sure you've gotten alot of offers on it.

If there's one thing to be said about being the original (and only) owner of the car...provided you didn't change anything on the car (other than oil and maybe the routine tune up stuff)....when you enter into a car show no one can really tell you what's right and what ain't.....

Always cool to see someone that is the original owner of a 1970 Chevelle. :) I am not the original owner of the Chevelle, wasn't even born until 19 years after the car was built, but it kind of feels like it since it has been in the family since it was new, and I am the next one to get it.

Hi, Guys!
I still lurk around here a little! ;-) I've actually been working freelance for the company that "retired" me 18 months ago. I've been back there for a little over a year now. Keeps my knowledge fresh. Stay away for too long from the broadcast field and you become "rusty" very quickly!

I still drive the Chevelle to work on occasion, although, the 'Stang has been racking up most of the mileage......27,000 miles since I took delivery in March of 2006! In answer to the question regarding how original the car is, well, not very original. The rear IS original, never been torn down! The TH350 is original, but was rebuilt at 345,000 miles. All the glass, except for the windshield. The front clip and both quarters were replaced in 1985. The vinyl roof was replaced at the same time and needs replacement again. I redid a lot of the bodywork in 1999 and reshot the entire car at that time, but the rigors of driving over 100 miles round trip to work everyday took it's toll, so the car needs some TLC again. Now, at least, I can take my time on it!

I've begun working on my '57 Chevy again, hoping to get it back on the road by July or August. We did a partial restoration back in 1980, but it needs some work again. Of course, back then, I was a lot younger and the knees didn't creak as much! Things just take a little longer now. ;-)

Anyway, it's nice to be remembered! Thanks for the kind words! I, and the "old girl" (we ARE talking about the Chevelle!) appreciate it. I turn the "big 6-O next Sunday! Guess "we'll" go out for a spin. ;)
