: Has anyone used Mark Williams housing ends?
10sec69 Sep 30th, 04, 12:35 PM Hey guys, I'm doing a little research on narrowing a 12-bolt rear end. Mark Williams has a nice kit (http://www.markwilliams.com/pdfcat/pg8.pdf) that includes bearings, retainers, and seals (axles sold separately). It looks pretty straightforward but has anyone here had any experience with this kit? How about similar housing end kits from other manufacturers? Thanks in advance.
BLK64SS Sep 30th, 04, 1:13 PM I myself havent used the mark williams ends, But I am familair with them. For what its worth ... the moser ends are much stouter. The MW ends " resemble " a stamped end, very thin compared to the massive machined ends Moser offers.
Gandalf80 Sep 30th, 04, 5:55 PM I'm using the moser ends and axles etc in my 12 bolt. I didn't narrow it, I just wanted to get rid of the c-clips and make sure i'd never have to worry about the strength of my diff again.
I was extemeley happy with everything i got from moser. I order everything from them, my housing ends, axles with bearings already pressed on, posi carrier and ring and pinion. I had a local machine shop here cut off the old ends and weld on my new ones, then i did the rest of the assembly myself.
That was 2 years ago, and not a single problem since, and not a drop of oil leaked. Much nicer knowing you aren't relying on those clips to hold your axle in!

Cameano Oct 1st, 04, 12:09 AM That kit looks more like what I would've liked to have used. I went with the Alston Chassisworks (http://www.cachassisworks.com/images/Housing_ends.gif) (Torino style) for my 9", and they don't have the slip-fit lip on them like it appears the MW ends do, to fit inside the tubes securely for welding. Would've been easier to line up. The Alston ends just butt up to the tubes for welding, little more work if you don't have a pro jig for installing them. I bought my axles from Currie with the bearings installed already.

We have thought about going with Moser's Alloy Axles along with the C-Clip Eliminators.
