Fri.night,we ran the car at the dragstrip in Crossville,Tn.We made two passes.4.40 in both lanes at 161,with the old engine.Car was spinning real hard, and walking all over the dang place.Perry, said it d@m! near shook his fillings out.But still not bad for the 1st. two passes of the year.
There was an Outlaw Corvette there, which made a pass of 5.56 at 143 on motor, with a 29.5x10.50 tire.It runs deep in the 4's on spray.
Then, Richard Houston in his Pro Outlaw Rail ,clicks off a 5.54 at 175.And dang if he didn't lift three times.:D

there was a mustang a couple of weeks ago at an OSCA race that went 4.80's on a true 10.5 tire, not a "W".

Yea, I know.We had a guy Sat.,at the Bounty Race, lightly tag the guardrail just because of that. His car is a Mustang, went 6.01 on a 28x10.5,with a small block and juice of course.
Jeff Carpenter,(driver)said it just got loose at the top end.Very little body damage.Thank goodness.
Must have been scarry as he!! inside the car though,I was on the starting line and I know it made at least 3 donuts past the finish line.

Rowdy,I have a '67 malibu, don't know how much it weighs.Sorry.I'd say it's pretty light, however.I kept track of what the factiory stuff weighed and what replaced it.I lost 200Lbs.on just the rolling chassis. That might make up for my fat as.
For now,the engine is a 355,sollid roller .
Or were you talking about the race car?

I was referring to the race car.

Specifically, I wondered if the '67 WAS the race car. Seemed a little too fast.

ROWDY,
No,the '67 is not the race car.It will be a street car.Lucky if it'll run in the 7's.
The race car is a 235"Spitzer rail,555C.I.blown and injected,Merlin.,Power glide,3.89 rear gear.Looks like a NHRA Top Dragster.Car weighs 2030 with driver and fuel. We run a 34.5x18.5 x16 tire,leave the line at 3000,and shift at 7000.60's are between .94 and 1.01.Both were 1.05 Fri. with a 3 and a 5.
330's are usually in the 2.41 zone.Were 2.53 and 2.54 Fri.
660's are usually in the 4.24 to 4.31.Both Fri. were 4.40
MPH is usually between 168 and 171.Fri it was 160,both passes.
Blower was set at 17% over.Used 2 gal of fuel each pass.

You can see where the confusion came from. Followed by ROCKETESQUE E.T.'s.

Also saw some Outlaw 10.5 cars run 6.90's (1/4 mile of course) at Tulsa about 5-6 weeks ago at the Clash of the Titans. I remember the day as a kid at Orange County International and Lions Dragstrip when Funny Cars werent that fast. I'd much rather watch Pro Mods,10.5 and DR classes vs. a nitro event.

Hey Eric,

Check your email buddy. The engine managed to find it's way into the Camino on Sunday. I'll make it to a Bounty Race yet......
