I just got my new 2" cowl Glasstek hood in lastnight. I installed it on the car today. Overall I'm real pleased with the fit and finish. However I've got a couple of issues to address and I'm hoping someone else may have already ran into these issues.

1). The rear of the hood looks like it will be in the path of the passenger side windshield wiper. I'm guess I'll need to remove some material from the hood?

2). I'm having problems with the front latch. The factory hood had a raised area where the top part of the latch was attached to the hood. The glass hood does not have a raised area and the male part that goes into the latch is not long enough to "catch" the lower part of the latch. I hope somebody will know what I'm trying to describe.

3). The hook that is actuated by the hood release appears to be bottoming out on the hood.

4). With the hood down it seems like the front corners might be a little flemsy. I'm thinking I might need to install some hood pins to make sure the front stays buttoned down at 125-130MPH.

Any experiences in this area are appreciated.

On another note, I got my new Vic Jr. intake and 1" phenolic spacer installed today. With the new intake, spacer and a 14x3 breather I still have more than 1" of hood clearance. I think I'm really going to like this new hood once I get these issues worked out and get it painted. The car seems super responsive to the new induction system. Look for some big #'s to be posted the first week of December. Or maybe not... smile.gif

I've got a Harwood hood finished underside, I had to take a dremel to the backside of the hood to clearance the wiper also. I don't use the stock hood latch,,,just 2 hood pins. I forgot them earlier this year as I was rushed to the lanes,,,needless to say, I'm on my second Harwood hood

Ken i have the same hood, sorta on my 67. First, i trimed 3/8" of the back of the cowl with a jig saw. still hits slightly. Second, i had to losen the jam nut on the male part of the latch and tune it to get the proper length. also had to slot the holes in the hood side part of the latch to get it centered where it needed to be. also, after all the adjustments were made, the hood has a slight bow in it. this causes the hood to be high 1/2" in the center of the fenders, leval at the rear and front. is yours like this. im using the supervictor with 1" spacer and 4" K&N filter on my 383. i had to cut a hole in the underside support for the filter to clear. Thanks for the feedback guys.

Bob, What can I say? That sucks!

Dave, did you have a body shop try to fit the hood for you? Mine has a little bow as well, that's why I'm asking. Are you using hood pins? I can't imagine trusting just the latch to hold the hood down at high speeds. I've got good clearance without having to cut the supports, but then again I'm running a shorter filter (3"). Do you have any pictures of your's installed/painted on the car? I really think I'm going to be happy with it when it's completed.

Thanks again.

No Ken, no pics right now. im trying to get all the performance stuff done first before i put the car in the body shop. i dont want to be drilling holes and having to relocate things with fresh paint. next big issue is a trailer so i can get to the track and get a base line. Dave P.S. i can say, pulling the hood down tight with the adjustments, and then setting the corner stops a little high the hood is rock solid. ive had mine up to about 100mph and all seems fine.

My Glasstec on my 66 also has a bow in the center and hit the wiper just a bit. I moved the wiper and ground a bit off with my dremel. They told me to try a bunch of things to get the bow out but even having it off the car and putting two 5 gallon buckets full of water in the center and leaving it for a month in the sun didn't do it. I want to take pics of it and send to them and this thread may help do some convincing as well. I had to cut a slot for the hood latch to work.

On my Harwood I had to use 4 pins for the front to keep it from bowing at the big end.
