set of plugs are lasting about 5 miles. the plugs at the corners go really fast then a little miss sets in and progresivly get worse. when i pull the corner plugs they have almost a pastey black heavy fudge goo on them ( maybe .002 thick). The center 4 cylinders have a grey color for the most part but there is a small black spot on the porclien near the electrode. i guess this side is exposed to the chamber causing it to turn black. within a few more miles they begine to go black. what little hair i have i quikly leaving. fixing to try a MSD for a fix. ideas? thanks Dave

The first thing that comes to mind with me is that you are pulling oil into the intake runners past the intake gasket. Make sure it's tight. Is it mating well? Maybe try pulling it and trying different gaskets and some RTV if necessary.
Can't imagine valve seals are the problem since it's only at the corners.
Don't spend money on an MSD unit unless you were going to buy one anyway cuz it's not going to solve your problem. Only mask the symptoms for a while.
Good luck with it.
Troy.

this intake leaking from the bottom is starting to look like it may the issue. is there a way to check or is it a pull it and replace the gaskets kinda deal. is there anyway to verify that it was leaking once the intake is off. thanks Dave

D graemlins/thumbsup.gif on't use rtv silicone on anything fuel related, gasoline eats the stuff. Use something designed for fuel exposure. I use the old permatex black non hardening stuff-it's been around forever and has never let me down.

I replied to your other post. I had the same problem running the Dart version of the Super Victor. It seems to be related to the low rpm/part throttle mixture distribution behavior of that manifold. It worked great from 3500rpm on up, but was rather lackluster below that.
My "dark corners" went away when I put an RPM Air-Gap dual plane on. Lots more bottom end torque, too, and I didn't notice any loss in top end power (winding it out to 6500) changing from the single to the dual plane.

ok guys, i looked at some of the old fouled plugs i have removed. a few of them are still damp after sevreal days. i would have thought if this was fuel they would be dry by now. would this be an indication of oil? thanks dave

Ever notice how "oily" pump gas is? I installed a new fuel pump on someones car recently. Used a clean drain pan to catch fuel leaking out the old pump as it was removed. The drain pan, days later, was still wet with an oily residue.

I read in one of the car rags that with the "Reformulated gas" that one should run 2 heat ranges hotter. Works for me until AC stopped making R46TSX plugs now only 45's.
