Was out p,,ssinging around monday and drove past a farm that I had noticed for the last 20 years had a bunch of cars setting in the weeds and I thought well it dont hurt to ask.I went back and the old dude was setting on the front porch holding his grandson or maby his GGson.I said I didnt think it hurt to ask,Do you sell parts? He said NO,what do you need?I said I needed a 12 bolt for a 66. He said ,a12 bolt out of a 66 GTO would fit.I said I thought so. He said come by in 2 weeks and Ill give you one,Imm not selling anything and having those GD IRS people hasleing me anymore!OK Imm starting to get excited so I say Can I barter something,He wont hear of it and we start talking 66 chevelles. He says he has 3 66 GTOs and a 66 ss sitting in his barn along with alot of others.Im really not breathing by this point!I ask if he would consider selling the ss? He says No but Ill give it to you! He says he dont sell nothing!OK at this point I start backing away as Im getting to cranked and I want to appear cool. Ill let you know the rest in two weeks.NO BS

Lucky! The only down side is that you won't be able to say that "it" never happens to you :)

The "come back in two weeks" is what scare's me.
I hope it works out for you. That would be the greatest "barn find" story yet.

NO BS

I'd declare BS :D . However, I notice you keep your whereabouts a secret so as to avoid anyone on here trying to locate a certain barn and and old man sittin' on his porch...with cars in the weeds...

He is basically telling you that because of taxes due, he sells nothing and only gives it away. After he gives you the car he will expect something green to appear in an envelope that will make him happy. If he wants to give away a GTO, I have an envelope that could make him happy. Let me know. Good Luck

I'd be ready to accidentally leave a keg or 2 on his back step. Maybe even better, donate a kid-oriented thing to him. He might appreciate it more.

Make sure you get a title that matches the car....

He must be related to this old lady around here who had a stash of old cars dating from 1920's to 1960's and a big bldg. full of old parts. They used to be in the wrecking business till her hubby died circa 1980 and then her only son became to sick to run the business and they closed the doors. She would always tell you you can have the parts but you never got them because here memory was no good at 90yo. She distrusted everyone and was known to call the police and say you were stealing from her. She was afraid of the government also, sales tax and losing her social security is all she talked about and this was back around 1990 (she died about 1995).

She had 2 near perfect (sitting for 30 yrs) loaded 1963 Impala 4 dr ht. She agree to sell them to me but I never got them in 2 yrs of trying. Always some excuse to not let me take them but promising me I could have them. I offered her 10x what she original wanted for them and I was never able to get anywhere with her. Talking with those that knew her, I was never going to get anything out of her. People flew thousands of miles to get old parts from her only to leave empty handed. She was senile and would tell you anything on the phone and not know if she even had the parts. Her grandchildren ended up selling it all off in one lump sum to the highest bidder.

I would get a 12 pack and go hang out with him awhile. Try to make friends with him and it might go that right way for you.

Just make sure the guy OWNS the cars! A friend in the scrap business picked up four scrap cars at a farm given permission from the man living there. After picking the vehicles up the landlord called us a week later and we had to take two of them back! He didn't care about the other two but said that the cars were his dad's and he wanted to keep them.

I'll bet an 18 yr old hooker and some good booze would get his mind thinking! Hell, I'll bet he's never had that before. If money means nothing, bring him something the IRS can't tax!
